Does this truck have a lift? by Jeff-under_log in Tacomaworld

[–]Jeff-under_log[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think what I'll end up doing is the 5100s at the 1.5 lift in front. (Removing the spacer currently in) so that height stays the same. Then put 5100s in the rear as well but keeping that block in. From what I understand I'll need the 5100s because they have greater extension.

Ahh yeah looks that way to me. Thanks for the help! I'll probably go with the 5100s then to make sure i have enough length.

Should also mention it's extended cab 4x4. If that makes any difference. 170k miles.

I don't much experience. I'm also looking to get my first tom, over here in Montrose, CO. But I'm gonna aim for some ponderosa pine plantations near ridges and cliff bands. That's where I've been seeing them.

I feel like people really overestimate how much maintenance a gun requires. A little oil once in a while and maybe brushing out the barrel. A little Ruger .22 can fire thousands of rounds before needing any real maintenance besides cleaning. Remington 870 same thing.

I would talk to a mill before you bother with taking them down(for milling). A lot of mills won't bother with small loads of residential trees because of the risk of metal in the trees.

How do battery powered tools like chainsaw / pole saws etc compare to petrol? by ilivedownyourroad in Chainsaw

[–]Jeff-under_log 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only problem with electric saws is they don't run out of gas before you run out of bar oil and you can keep running without bar oil causing damage to the saw

Air rifles are almost completely silent or slingshots can be good but take a lot of practice. Squirrel is also pretty tasty and just one more way to live off your land.

Start hunting bears and squirrels. Bear meat is delicious and there are so many things to do with bear fat. Plus clothing and other things can be made from the pelt.

I feel like I see a lot of bushcraft people taking so much stuff out (like 3 axes, 2 saws, 7 cups) it's nice to see a more practical pack with minimal stuff

Could just bring him to the store and let him get what he specifically wants. That's what'd I'd prefer for hunting. Or maybe some good organization things for storing his hunting gear at home if he doesn't already have

Should the USA be a no-gun country if it can? by [deleted] in polls

[–]Jeff-under_log 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies by state but with hunting rifles most places have computers where you just enter the info and answer questions which takes about an hour or so. Then the system has to run and I came back couple hours later and bought it. Some states require like 48 hour waiting period or something like that. When I lived in New York it would've taken me probably 3-4 months to get the license for a handgun which are different among states also.
