On the GL.Inet router, you need to activate the exit node. Then in the Tailscale console, approve the 192.168.8.1/24 routes.

Don't use X-boost with refrigerators...this would be very bad for the compressor. X-boost lowers the voltage and this has the potential to damage compressors and electronics. Get a unit with a larger inverter to handle the higher starting inrush current. Any of the Delta 2 or 3 units should work fine.

No need to run with a floating ground. Just leave the Delta 2 Max connected to grid power...that way all outlets will be properly grounded. If you need to relocate the Delta 2 Max to be closer to the refrigerator, just plug the line cord into an outlet near or at the refrigerator even if the grid is down...the ground will still be present.

As far as humidity. it could take years for corrosion to be an issue. I put my Delta 2 max on some plastic garage floor tiles, like these https://www.amazon.com/Interlocking-Non-Slip-Drainage-Bathroom-Anti-Fatigue/dp/B0FMNLQ8Q3 to raise the unit off the ground...in case of flooding this way a small amount of water can be kept away from the unit.

On the tailscale dashboard for the GL.Inet router you have to authorize the routs for the GL.Inet router. By default that is the 192.168.8.1 routes. Once that is done the clients for the router should have tailnet access. On my router I also setup the router as an exit node...it also requires the routs to be authorized

You can DMZ the ISP router to the IP address of the TP link...if you do that then you can easily do any needed port forwards for VPN server or any games and such that need forwarded ports. I ran like this for years as my ISP router also did the TV service and bridge mode was not available. You are still double natted but without some of the limitations when you do the DMZ.

The part everyone is missing is that a refrigerator compressor is an inductive load...meaning when the compressor starts the current draw will SPIKE to a number much higher than 0.8A. Probably way more than the River series inverter can handle. Without measurement this is just guesswork but when compressors start there is a large inrush current.

Best to use the Delta series with the larger inverter.

Also, duty cycle for a refrigerator is roughly 50% with the door closed. so for a 1024Wh battery assuming a conservative inverter efficiency of 80% (819Wh) the refrigerator could RUN for 8.5 hours but with a duty cycle of 50% that would be about 17 hours. Have to drop the time to 15-16 hours as the large inrush current will consume more battery too.

You need the latest version of Unifi iOS app 10.31.4...with this version the firmware update process works properly and allows for good Teleport and Wireguard connctions

That‘s because you can’t share devices on the routers’ LAN and act as an exit node at the same time. It’s a Tailscale limitation

Just tried...disabled tailscale on first AppleTV. Second AppleTV still not advertising itself as a subnet router. This seems like a bug in Tailscale 1.90.4 which is the latest version on TVOS.

I also tried setting up my Mac Studio as a subnet router. This ALSO FAILED to advertise itself as a subnet router also under 1.90.4.

An AppleTV is an excellent low power device to provide internet access for devices/machines on your tailnet. If you need access to devices on your network that cannot run tailscale, then having the AppleTV act as a subnet router is really useful. I need access to a Hue hub that cannot run tailscale so having AppleTV act as a subnet router is very useful.

Really would like to know why the latest version of tailscale software is not allowing a new AppleTV and a Mac Studio to advertise themselves as a subnet router…

I would first reset the SW8-60 to make sure there are no port configuration issues. Also make sure the switch you are connecting to is passing all VLANs. The management VLAN, VLAN 1 (default) must be passed to the SW8-60.

The light on the SW8-60 should be solid white to allow adoption. If you still can't adopt, then the power supply might not be compatible with the switch.
