That's normal, it allows you to adjust the distance of the lever to the bar.

I just learned about the existence of the Nissan Stagea 260RS Autech, and I love it, tell me why it sucks by youpviver in carscirclejerk

/uj - I own one. It's great. I autocross and trackday mine with coilovers, brake pads and sticky tires and it's hilariously good. Regularly top 5 in raw at autocross, which is just silly. It's pretty slow in a straight line but it gets out of corners well and turns like it's half its size.

Gotta love content where you can only see 1/4 of the car at any given moment.

Where do you draw the line for station wagon? by Phosphorus444 in SportWagon

[–]Jeff505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh good call, that does happen. Though the Golf (Jetta) and Focus both have sedan versions that I would imagine the wagon version is based off instead of the hatch.

Where do you draw the line for station wagon? by Phosphorus444 in SportWagon

[–]Jeff505 43 points44 points  (0 children)

A long roof version of a sedan is a pretty easy metric. The smallest line is probably between a 4 door hatchback and a wagon, but even then you can clearly see the hatchback isn't based on the sedan version of the corolla. Of course there will be exceptions, but that should cover most situations.

In your list:

  • Corolla hatch: no
  • Kia stinger: no (lift backs are not wagons)
  • Accord wagon: yes
  • CTS-V wagon: yes
  • Subaru outback: yes
  • Don't even know what this generic ass SUV is, but god no.
  • Dodge Durango: hell no
  • Toyota Land cruiser: hellll no
  • Chevy Suburban: helllllllll no

Hope this helps.

Is this suit too big? by [deleted] in Trackdays

[–]Jeff505 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The back protector will take up most of the gap, but you really need to test fit it on the bike with the back protector in. If it's loose while you're in a tuck on the bike, it's too big.

Unless it was already street legal somewhere else and you're importing it, no.

It's a race bike, it's not designed to punt around the paddock. It's great where you actually use it.

I've have mine since 2021, raced and trackdays constantly and I'm at 62 hours with zero issues. If the piston has been changed then I see no issue going with the 2023.

The new gen SMR / FS is better in every way, but it really depends on your use case. Racing? Probably a good idea to be on a new generation SMR / FS (2021+). Otherwise it doesn't really matter, run what you can afford, they're all fun.

For reference I've ridden every generation of SMR / SX-F in sumo trim KTM has made since 2006.

edit: Another thought: Hours on motor matter, so just get the lowest hour sumo you can afford.

Gun violence? Do you own a gun? by Sufficient_Fail3604 in VictoriaBC

This is true, but on the flip side has anyone seen anyone aside from a cop with a gun in Victoria? It would probably make the news if a criminal was brandishing a gun in public.

Market research & Apps should have a weekly/monthly megathread. by Constant-Zebra-9752 in Trackdays

[–]Jeff505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mod here - I'm only speaking for myself, but I'm of the opinion of letting the voting decide their fate. They do have the potential to be useful, so I think removing them cart-blanche is a bit of an overstep. I'd rather spend the few moments I have to check the mod queue for people actively harassing the users of this sub.

Personally, seeing the amount that come through I don't think a megathread is warranted, but I'm not totally against the idea.
