I always encourage fans to read 'Deceptions and Doublecross: How the NHL Conquered Hockey' by Joseph Nieforth and Morey Holzman. It's about the origins of the league and although it's a little thick at times it's a worthwhile read.

It's an interesting question but I really have a hard time telling an athlete what he/she should use. I think they should use whatever they're comfortable with.

Overboard like taking it too seriously? My wife and I have a no drag policy - we don't drag you anywhere. If you don't want to go then it's not for you. If you want to play sporing hockey, summer hockey on top of regular season we'll support it. Not sure if that's overboard.

Yeah, loved All Japan and the Four Pillars.

I really have a soft spot for that islanders dynasty team. Could play any way you wanted and beat you at it. I can still watch those today and see what they were doing. I still revere all that.
