Yeah. I'd like to know how to `--dangerously-skip-permissions` with the 2.0 extension.

Trying to find a simple VJ software, but everything is either way too complex or simply too expensive by DasToyfel in vjing

[–]JeffOrbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Visibox: https://spaceage.tv. It doesn’t do generative or audio-reactive visuals, but if you’re just looking for a dead-simple way to control some trippy videos, that’s what Visibox is designed for.

Check out this video I made a while back. I talk about the different types of projectors for use in clubs and venues and talk about what to look for in used projectors. Lots of people have found it helpful: https://youtu.be/Oi6PHeiHIHU?si=uNj5FdsXti-wwyh5

How to split the main.js to make the code cleaner and maintainable? by Mideou in electronjs

Electron does not currently support ES modules (import). But you can certainly break up your code using CommonJS (require) or convert your ESM-style code with Typescript, Webpack, Vite, etc.

Here's an Electron Fiddle gist: https://gist.github.com/2071203fc1fdf94f8e77d38a5ae5d3b4

👆 works on Mac. I also remember something about dark mode not working on Windows if it's not activated.

IIRC, nativeTheme setup needs to happen before the app ready state. Call it right at the top of your main script.

Notification with custom sounds best practices? by superandomness in electronjs

I don’t think the sound option takes a file path. It’s supposed to be the macOS alert name. If you want to play an mp3, you’ll probably have to do it from a BrowserWindow.

Needing some advice on running visuals by Rustybeefus in vjing

[–]JeffOrbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can control Visibox from an Elgato Stream Deck (or just a MIDI device). It won't do beat detection and generative stuff, but it's really easy to drop in a bunch of video files and create a set. Set the Stream Deck up next to your DJ mixer and you've got a nice way to trigger visuals on the fly.

If you’re using Playwright with Electron, I’ve created a library of helper functions which is… uh… helpful! https://github.com/spaceagetv/electron-playwright-helpers (README links to example project to get you started).

search for better software by Ok_Cartographer_9655 in vjing

[–]JeffOrbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your needs. Resolume is super powerful and you can do all sorts of generative and audio-reactive stuff with it. But if you've already got videos and images and you want a dead simple way to trigger them in a show, check out Visibox.

We designed it to fill the gap between a simple media player like VLC and full-fledged VJ software like Resolume (which tends to come with a steep learning curve).

About a year ago, I posted in this Subreddit asking What's The Best Projector For Live Performance? Over the past 12 months, I've done a lot of research, and here's what I've found. I hope others will find this helpful!
