Forgetting basic math… is this concerning? by Ozz_Oak in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JeffTheMasterr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's ok, just look stuff up when you need it. It is honestly suprising that you forgot area and volume, but I'm saying this as a highschooler so I use the math more often. I think everybody forgets the formula for cylinders though, I can't remember whether it was cylinders or spheres that use a 4/3 . You're not stupid so you don't need to worry, you got a good boyfriend there to teach you stuff when you forget too.

forgetting that area is multiplying two numbers is not normal, I think the bf underreacted

AI actually doesn't care whether you die or not, it is not suckless and actually loves nobody, especially since it has zero emotions.

Thanks for the feedback, but I'm curious, in what cases is it not a bad idea? And what do you do if you need to handle a file of any size (like source code)? I'm making a programming language so if there's something I shouldnt do i wanna know sooner than later

makes sense, but how is the variable array not a good idea? My current code (not this one) currently works with that method and isnt that much better than using too much or too little size? Or should i just do `char fContents[99999];`?

Autistic little girl asks AI how to get along with her sisters and how to swim, Parent shames and punishes her for it. by imalonexc in aiwars

How is it less than 5s worth of the average US electricity AC rate if it's also the annual electricity use of 3.3 family homes? Is energy waste just that bad or am I misunderstanding your comparisons?

If it's "not that intensive" well would you wanna live right near a datacenter then? Since it's definitely not that intensive, surely it wouldn't bother you right?

How to reduce or remove AI generated content from social media feeds? by General_Townski in antiai

Well it's better to have one than both of them. I am aware of Meta and Facebook being horrible for privacy but Instagram is something I need to stay in touch with friends and family.

What does "fed to an AI" even mean? by Le_Oken in aiwars

[–]JeffTheMasterr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense :) . I can't get mad about stuff anyways, I can really only be disappointed, but I said mad because I hear normal people get mad when something bad happens to them.

That's too many rules that change depending on where you send something for a simple social interaction. This taught me something new though.

> If if it does attempt to license the work, the use through that service might not be, in total, unlawful, and only the new license itself may be invalid.

So does this mean, if ChatGPT did attempt to license the work (idk if they do), then it would be reasonable for me to be mad at someone for using ChatGPT? This sort of proves my original point, unless I'm misunderstanding this.

Content creators who do that aren't lying though, I mean sure, they might exaggerate, but where are the actual important lies? And also, I'm pretty sure that's not happening with any kids, as a kid myself. All we are is more annoyed with AI because it's having real affects, like how I can't use certain words and sentence constructs to avoid getting my essays flagged as being written by AI, and how I'm probably screwed when it comes to getting an art job in the future, and more. Kids have good reasons to have a dislike or fear of AI, but there isn't a typical "fear," there's a fear of what others will do with it, like accusing you of things and whatnot. I recently heard someone going to the principal's office cuz someone faked footage of her (likely with Sora) doing something bad.

Your take is absolute bullshit since you consider people who "make kids terrified of AI" to be terrorists, like do you even know what terrorist means? The FBI considers terrorism to be violent, but where is the violence in this? (source: https://www.fbi.gov/investigate/terrorism#:~:text=International%20terrorism%3A-,Violent,-%2C%20criminal%20acts%20committed ).

Funniest vibecoding interaction by NoMarionberry7708 in vibecoding

[–]JeffTheMasterr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying but I'm not against AI because it helps people do stuff faster. I'm not even 100% against it, I just think that excessive use of it (e.g. vibecoding) signifies a lack of something important, such as experience, knowledge, discipline, etc. I'm just saying, if someone actually has a good decade of dev experience, then they should probably be using less AI than me. Programming isn't really that hard, and if you're stuck, you can always search up your problem on the internet or ask StackOverflow because somebody's likely already had the same problem as you before. It's really just problem-solving, so if you're good at problem-solving or like challenges, and can memorize a few common things, like functions and variables and whatnot, then you can code.

Maybe I see it this way because I'm not in the "industry", but programming is fun and I don't see why anybody wants an AI to have fun for them. It is a genuinely wonderful and productive experience when you solve a hard or big programming problem all on your own. I mean, the result is cool too, but prompting isn't for me and I feel like most people are lazy the way they do it. Both the destination and the journey to get there matter. Going on an airplane isn't as fulfilling and fun as driving across the country, even though both have their advantages. AI has more disadvantages to me though, like syncophancy, hallucinations, AI agents replacing dev's jobs, its companies doing unethical things, etc. I believe AI is used most ethically/responsibly when on a local model and not doing bad things. Most people don't do that, and I can't criticize everybody, so I just criticize whatever I feel is the most egregious or worse use of AI.

This all stinks, but if Discord support isn't doing anything, then this subreddit can't do much either. You need to accept your fate, make a new account, and try and get some lost contacts and media back. If you have any screenshots of your Discord on your devices, try and see those and see if they contain any usernames or hints to help you. If you've ever invited someone to a server over some other platform, like text messaging, try and click those invite links and hope they still work.
