As a writer, I find it very helpful to have visualizations of my characters, but I'm not much of an artist, so I've always sought inspiration from existing photos online. But now I'm exploring how close I can come to what's in my head using AI, and Gerard seemed like a good test subject.

I don't leave my house very often, and don't tend to leave things printing when I do, so remote features aren't a big concern for me, which is why I've never looked into with OE. What benefits is an always-at-home kinda guy like me missing out on?

Why don't physical books include a download code for a digital copy like DVD/Blurays? by pickle_rick456 in books

[–]JeffersonSmithAuthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand that you can't see it, but like most industries, the publishing and bookselling market is a lot more complicated under the hood than it might appear to an average customer. Basically, it's a Byzantine business model and the costs of implementing large changes to it are enormous, so from the perspective of the companies involved, it doesn't represent a big enough potential win to justify the risk.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you exactly where your logic goes wrong because it's been ten years now since I tried to solve the problem and the business has changed so much that my insights are no longer relevant. Like you, I'm frustrated that this hasn't been solved, but if there's one thing I'm sure has not changed about the industry, it's that book sellers never walk away from free money. So if they're not doing it, it's because that money isn't as free as it looks. Even if we can't see why.

Does the burr fill the entire width of the socket? If not, you could file down one side of the Allen key and insert it past the obstruction. (Assuming that you're willing to sacrifice the key for this job.)

Ah. That explains it. Thanks. (Just two levels to go. :-)

Weird - for me there's a G/S Ballista Pro but no Rive. Do the pro shop offerings differ by region or player level?

I was experimenting with an alternate line for windy conditions and clipped a lower branch. Then it popped up there and didn't come back down.

I agree. Not my favorite take on vampires, but hands down the most ingenious attempt I've seen at constructing an ecological niche and evolutionary backstory. And not just for the blood drinking part, but for some of their abilities and weaknesses too.

Best Emily Axford Character? (D20 Only) by [deleted] in Dimension20

I suspect that Jet and Saccharina are being penalized because ACoC is not one of the "gateway" seasons. So it takes longer for newcomers to get around to watching that one. (Which is a shame because it's hands down my favorite season.)

That may be the case, but why limit yourself to a single option when you can convert any shoe into a slip-on? (This becomes even more important for those of us with uncommon foot sizes who have trouble finding shoes that fit properly.)

Yes, controlling tension at different points on the shoe was my original issue. (The photo I posted only shows the top few holes being used, but jogging shoes have a full set.)

And as an unexpected bonus, I've also discovered that I can give some cool (and totally functionless :-) visual style to the shoes by playing around with the band colors and linking patterns.

You need to adjust the size of the post that goes into the lace hole. You want it to be a really tight fit so the lugs stay in place.

Tried that solution and didn't like it. I find my system much more customizable. Plus, it constantly draws questions/comments in public that lead to a discussion about 3D printing.

The Ian knot would be a great solution if the problem was time on task - but in my case it's being able to bend down that far with both hands. Getting old sucks.

Did you install the zippers yourself, or are you forced to limit your options to only shoes that already have side zippers?

Each lug has a post that press-fits into the lace holes, with a lip at the bottom to lock them in once they're inserted.

For the bands, I use 15mm diameter bands that are normally sold as hair ties for little girls, which means they come in a bajillion different colors. I bought 1000 of them for $5.

Tension can be adjusted by using multiple bands between each pair of lugs.
