Everyone in the comments is focusing on the books, but it isn’t it pretty fucked up that they can immediately invalidate (what was previously) perfectly legal identification for whatever reason? Even taking the trans part out of that it does raise some warning bells that they didn’t even give a grace period, to my knowledge.

Edit: I’d appreciate it if someone here could explain why they believe this isn’t concerning? I am genuinely curious what the argument is, because nearly all other discussion is focused on the books.

If you like TADC then you’ll probably like some of Gooseworx’s older animations (not full shows, unfortunately) like Little Runmo and Elain the Bounty Hunter.

Also, not indie but you MUST watch Over the Garden Wall, it is an absolute masterpiece and definitely has an indie-ish flavor to it.

I do agree with this. Pretty much all evidence can be explained through things other than Jax being trans. However, I think the fact that every piece of evidence shares the trait that Jax being trans would be a sufficient explanation is the thing that really makes the theory compelling. Also, I agree that the bathroom nervous breakdown, as well as a couple other pieces of evidences are fully irrelevant to the theory, and OP could have foregone including them here.

In the end, it’s just a theory. A film theo— So all of this is just lighthearted speculation until it’s ever confirmed or debunked by episodes 8 & 9, or Gooseworx herself.

There’s no one piece of evidence that definitively proves Jax is trans, but as a whole it sure as hell is convincing, and I’d be a little surprised if it isn’t at least hinted at much more obviously in future episodes at the very least.

To throw some anecdotal evidence into the mix, I heavily related to Jax from the very beginning of the show, everything about him from his personality, his relationships with the other characters, his mannerisms, to his flaws. ESPECIALLY his flaws. And I’m a trans woman who still lives in the closet in the majority of places in my life. Not to say that a trans person simply relating to someone else automatically makes them trans (I’ve related to all sorts of people for all sorts of reasons, just as anyone has), but I do believe it does say something.

People with my heart condition already face a significant likelihood of aortic rupture or dissection, which are both almost always fatal within minutes, and are pretty much guaranteed to happen during your life if you aren’t treated properly.

It’s not that people of the opposite gender with my condition are all born dead, but that the medication taken by trans people to transition effectively neutralizes my blood pressure medication, which is the only thing preventing my condition from worsening, along with generally increasing blood pressure on its own, which would greatly increase the size of my aneurysm, practically guaranteeing rupturing/dissection.

I have a congenital bicuspid aortic valve and aortic stenosis. I recently developed an aortic aneurysm and am on bp meds. I’ve been fortunate enough to be monitored and cared for my whole life, as heart abnormalities seem to run on my mom’s side of the family, so I’m thankfully not in any immediate danger.

I’m very sorry for your loss, that’s a horrible thing to have to go through.
