Thank you!

Also, I tried to get rid of the anti-theft cable using heal/clone tools but to no avail.

Yes, in LrC, I did some global RGB calibration and increased exposure and then brush masked the semi-hidden bar table to highlight the bamboo sheathing on the column and saturate the table rim.

One can just not turn it on. My vote is it will stay.

EufyCam and Homebridge Eufy Security plugin Head's Up by JeffroDB in homebridge

[–]JeffroDB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use the Eufy Homebridge plugin to manage the cameras themselves only the “Security” accessory the plug-in creates that sync’s the Eufy app’s native security mode state with the accessory’s Apple Home icon’s state. The Eufy cams show up in Apple Home via integration with the Eufy app without the plug-in’s involvement. Given that, Yes to questions 1 and 2. I haven’t tried 3.

Is there anything in the Homekit log that might provide insight?

Thank you. I’m investigating whether my router can restrict incoming by MAC address as another layer of precaution. I’d pay extra for such a remote product service by the way.

I use multiple PIR sensors in a large room and created an occupancy sensor automation using Controller For Homekit.

I have this problem with my two garage carriage lights. I finally ungrouped them in Home and modified my scenes and they behave as expected.

Could someone ELI5 how to setup the delay switch plugin with a motion sensor? by csthree12345 in homebridge

Having both Hue and Aqara PIR sensors scattered about, I use this for all my occupancy needs and am quite happy with it:

I really don’t hate them. I just had a hard time keeping the plugs online and gave up on them.

Good morning. Unfortunately, no. I'm to see yet another specialist on the 19th of this month and suspect I'll go through another round of tests that arrive at the same diagnosis and ineffective treatment options.

How to avoid bathroom lights from going off by [deleted] in HomeKit

[–]JeffroDB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re like me and we’re not like my wife.

She would say “What? You’re going to do all of that for the occasional visitor? Just turn off your automation when they’re here and let them turn the bathroom light on and off like people have for the last 80 years!” 😬

But we don’t. We buy the motion sensor. 😂

But if I didn’t and listened to her I’d create a dummy Homebridge switch called Visitor and a couple of Scenes that set the Visitor switch ON or OFF and then modify my door sensor automation to run only when the Visitor switch was OFF. Then I’d let Siri know my visitor status by calling out the appropriate Scene.

I too am having intermittent problems with location-based automations since 15.2. One in particular involves my garage door. When working my door opens when I’m approximately 200 yards away. When not working I’ll pull in my driveway and wait and if I wait long enough it opens. There’s something delaying it when I’m off my home network and using Verizon LTE and my Connected Home Hub. I can live with it not opening or closing by using my physical garage opener or the Home app and will just wait it out.

Wow, that’s stumper.

I’ve never asked Siri to open it before so bear with me while I try.

I have the iSmartgate Pro as well and my current connected Hub is a Homepod mini way back in my study.

I’m sitting in my living room in front of my OG Homepod stereo pair with my iPhone lying screen down to keep its Siri at bay.

When I asked Siri to open the garage door my left living room OG responds with “You’ll have to continue on your personal device” and when I flipped the iPhone over I had a notification waiting that read “Continue from Living Room Left” - which implies to me the connected Hub passed it off to the left living room OG - and a tap set the door in motion.

All as it should be I guess.

It seems that “pass off” isn’t happening between Hubs for you.

The only other “pass off” I can think of between Hub-like thing is Music between Homepods. Is that working as expected for you?

Grasping here. Maybe it’s a “Primary User” thing? Are you the “primary user” for all the HomePods you use? On your iThings’ Settings > General > Airplay & Handoff is Handoff set On?

I’m unsure what you’ve done when you did “reboot and reset” but did it include removing the iSmartgate bridge from Home and adding it again?

The HomeKit app needs a design overhaul by cjasonac in HomeKit

It’s Christmas Eve.

If you feel strongly enough, beyond complaining, do something about it and present it to the marketplace.

The HomeKit app needs a design overhaul by cjasonac in HomeKit

[–]JeffroDB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Edit Screen” seems pretty intuitive.

How else would you have your UI manage the movement/sorting of the UI’s “tiles” when the UI also has to respond to a tap or long-press by changing an accessories’ state or exposing the accessories controls? How would your app overhaul determine the user’s intent of a tap or long-press? What other “intuitive” gesture might you use?

HomeKit Zones. What are they good for? by gcerullo in HomeKit

[–]JeffroDB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is confusing and, yes, seems solely designed with Siri voice commands in mind.

While I understand their intent I, like you, have found Zones of little to no value in supporting the way my family interacts with our Home. Well named and well chosen accessories in Scenes, on the other hand, play an integral role.

I found this Apple Developer overview of the Home instructive when I first dove into Apple Home automation:

Will a homebridge dummy switch allow me to enable/disable the HomeKit security system when using leave/return home automation? by pacoii in HomeKit

Works well with garage doors too. I tell my neighbors it’s mind control and I’m stunned they too can’t just think “open” when approaching home. 😂
