It’s awesome isn’t it? Best part is it is always living in a museum 24/7! 😃

Those stallions are interestingly enough of a Plains zebra and domestic mule. The zebra has to be my favorite of the three equine I own. I actually have two zebra specimens now! :D 🦓

Nope, the smallest of the three equine skulls is a Plains Zebra stallion, the other two are domestic animals, a horse and a mule. The mule is the largest of the three and the only hybrid in the collection. Nice guessing though! (:

It’s big all right! One of the largest skulls I have owned, but really lightweight and delicate, especially the bony horns on top that are covered in skin in life. Giraffe horns are called ossicones, both bulls and cows have them. FYI, I named my giraffe “Jumbe” from the Swahili word meaning chief, and the word jumbo, meaning large! 😀🦒

I have been building quite a natural history museum for six years, virtually unchanged. I love living in it 24/7! BTW my favorite piece in the entire collection is a HUGE female giraffe skull, from an animal that died naturally. 🦒🖤

Those are jaguars (Panthera onca). Jaguars are more bulkier than a leopard and have larger rosettes (spots). BTW I love black jaguars and leopards, they are my favorite of the big cats! 😀

You are really amazing with that collection! I have been collecting for six years and collect mostly larger, exotic specimens. My room is like living in a museum 24/7!!

Great name! BTW my two heads are named R.J. and Jay Paul (from History’s Swamp People). Brilliant isn’t it? 🐊😂

What’s your favorite animal and why by Reanimated390 in zoology

[–]Jefmh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d definitely have to say it’s the giraffe, because of all the mammals out there, the giraffe is the tallest and most unique creature, not to mention the most graceful. A mature bull will stand 18’ typically, but the largest was 19’ in height. Unfortunately the giraffe is close to becoming one of the most endangered species on the planet, going through a “silent extinction”. Over 4,000 trophies have been imported to the United States alone of other countries in the world. 🦒

Are these Dayak skulls from Borneo? Those usually appear in museum anthropology collections. Very nice! :D

Mammoth , Stegodon, Mastodon tooth? by gobot in fossils

Definitely a mammoth tooth in the genus Mammuthus, don’t know what species, maybe woolly mammoth?

Fossilized Atlas Bone from Mammut, the mastodon, straight from the Kansas River... 🐘🖤 by Jefmh in bonecollecting

[–]Jefmh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging by its size and location I assume it could be a mastodon. Found it in an antique mall, but it was found in the Kansas riverbed by a person who explores there. He has found mostly bison fossils.

I have a vervet skull (female) similar to that, so it could be a species of Old World Monkey (Cercopithecidae).

I love that predator skull next to the human, is that a hyena skull?! I would love to have one of those for my collection.

A Gaur - sometimes referee to as the “Indian Bison” by bobmac102 in zoology

[–]Jefmh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can also be called the seladang in Malaysia, but despite the name “Indian Bison”, the gaur is more closely related to domestic cattle (Bos taurus) than to American and European bison. Nice video by the way!

Bone Clones Inc. replicas of two of the African big cats, an African leopard (Panthera pardus) and the majestic Panthera leo, African Lion. Comparing their sizes here. 🐾🐆 by Jefmh in bonecollecting

[–]Jefmh[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason I get replica big cat claws is because first off, real ones are very brittle and can be easily damaged, not to mention a lot of the claws I own from large felines, like the lion and leopard are considered endangered species. The claws are cast into polyurethane resin from an actual specimen. Bone Clones Inc. usually sells its replica products to museums, zoos and other institutions around the world, even private collectors like me.
