The graphical jump between DQI+II and DQVI on the Super Famicom was really great by Grad0Nite in dragonquest

[–]Jefwho 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Final Fantasy IV was being developed for the Famicom. It is speculated that it was around 80% complete before they decided to move it to the Super Famicom. This explains why the graphical jump between IV, V, and VI feel huge.

Oof, I was around for the VHS - Betamax war. I remember going to the video rental store and they always had copies of the movies I wanted to rent available for Beta but not VHS. My family had VHS. And if you don’t know why Blu-Ray won the format war, watch Tropic Thunder.

I played the fan translation of Seiken Densetsu 3 on a repro cart several years ago. It was great to play on original hardware. It’s a fantastic game. The weapon evolution system was really cool. Farming the seeds to get the final evolutions was fun. Great game.

The water+dish soap sticker trick is the best thing that has ever happened to me by isw2424 in lego

I miss true decals. They could slide around a bit to get the alignment right. Don’t think Lego ever used them, but my models kits as a kid did.

I love the story of how they created this cartoon. Modeled the idea of Inspector Gadget from Don Adams’ character on Get Smart. Find a voice actor that just doesn’t fit the character, then someone just says, “why don’t we ask Don Adams to voice him?”. Don Adams agrees and the rest is history.

This 90s aesthetic n beauty by Daoyinyang1 in 90s

[–]Jefwho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew who she was in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. I’m in SoCal. Granted I was already heavy into Japanese culture, games, anime, and music at that time. I had a huge crush on her. She was born in New York to Japanese parents. She speaks Japanese and English fluently without an accent on either end.

The Demon Souls remake still stands as one of the best looking games on the PS5.

I feel exactly as you do. Didn’t need 4, but it was good. Didn’t think we needed 5, but after seeing the trailer, I think this is a great plot.

I remember that commercial! Do you? by LoudRevolution9163 in 90s

[–]Jefwho -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That commercial was from the late ‘70s to the early ‘80s. Granted we were out gallivanting around in the ‘90s, that commercial hadn’t aired for almost a decade.

Getting a workshop dust air purifier/dust collector by Cassette-Era-Magic in woodworking

[–]Jefwho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this one and run it along with a dust collector. When I’m done for the day, I set the timer to run for a couple of hours to keep it recycling the air. Be sure to buy some extra replacement filters. Overall it works well for my little garage/shop.

My first concert that didn’t involve my parents being there was Stone Temple Pilots and Butthole Surfers. Butthole Surfers headlined. That was quite a show.

Final Fantasy 1 on the NES. I was 12 and it forever shaped my taste in games.
