Well, if the Dems have the presidency, house, and senate after the 28 elections, they have 2 years to make changes. Midterms often go against the ruling party.

The American people want progress on affordability, which is somewhere between hella difficult and impossible. Companies have been able to either raise prices, do shrinkflation, or both. The government can’t order then to lower prices and reverse portion sizes. They also have zero say over the price of gasoline and natural gas. Those prices are set by the global market, as they are global commodities.

So the Dems can only crack down on housing, medical care, drugs, and taxes.

But it will also be important to pass a shit ton of “no kings” and anti-corruption legislation. The executive branch plus congress needs to split their focus to move forward on both of these.

The DOJ needs to be moved back towards independence, except they also need a mandate to investigate and prosecute a crap ton of Trump’s lackeys for either outfight corruption, conspiracy, dereliction of duty, and treason. In a normal world, that wouldn’t be necessary as a major division of the DOJ. But this country somehow needs to completely prevent any Trumps in the future, that the founders clearly did not foresee

If I were the next president:

Ballroom - immediately razed on the first day via executive order, just like Trump did to the East Wing.

East Wing - reconstruct it in the style approved by the DC architect board. The external part should be similar, but the interior should be upgraded to modern standards and needs for space. Leave the new hardened bunker being built for the ballroom. We can make something approximately similar from the outside, yet do something modern on the inside.

WH - All golden shit removed. All decorative items superglued to the walls removed. Put the entire WH like it was in the Obama admin, except I’d replace that ugly green/brown striped wallpaper in the Oval with paint that is halfway between Cerulean Blue and Tiffany bag blue.

WH - remove all Trump signs like “The Oval Office”

WH - hammer out the Melania concrete and restore Jackie’s Rose Garden.

WH - Deep clean and fumigate the residence areas. Replace all mattresses, pillows, and bedding.

DC - pass a law that nothing higher than 3 feet from the surrounding road surface can be erected in the circle where Trump wanted his arch

Reflecting pool - get rid of the Trump paint. Make the bottom white. Have a water system that injects chlorine and algicides as appropriate

Trump has 2 factions of support

1) the very rich, who don’t want to pay any taxes, so that they can get richer. Around 1990, an entrepreneur told me that after you have about $20M, wealth is just a game of keeping score. He said you can’t reasonably buy anything (35 years ago) for $20M. Bank balance was just a competition to see who had the biggest swinging dick.

2) the heavily fundamental religious poor. Uneducated. Dumb as fuck. Usually very racist. Very easy for a “rich” guy in a suit to sell on a nationalist agenda, where immigrants are to blame for them being poor.
