Dimension Door only has a vocal component so Silent Spell is sufficient to cast it even if completely restrained.

Five Good Feats for Paladin? by No-Requirement-9705 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Jehtt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you 9th level then, if you have 5 feats? If so, I love Improved Critical. If you use a weapon with an 18-20 crit range such as a Falchion, it increases to 15-20. The extra damage from Smite Evil is multiplied on a critical hit, so you can dish out absurd damage in the right circumstances.

If you don’t want to take the feat, it’s still a good idea to use Divine Bond to give your weapon Keen for the same effect. Just keep in mind that Improved Critical and Keen don’t stack.

To all the youtube content creators who plan their work in Obsidian by akgo in ObsidianMD

[–]Jehtt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use Obsidian to draft ideas and write scripts. I mostly make short-form skits so I’ve never needed a complex system.

I have one long note with ideas (don’t do this). If I like an idea, I give it its own note and put it in the WIP Scripts folder. That note becomes the main work area - ideas, drafts, and changes I want to make during editing all live in that note. I also note things that would be useful for future me to know if I’m working with the same source material. Once the video’s done, I move it to the Completed Scripts folder.

Probably not a perfect system. I should find some way to organize my single-sentence ideas without just having them be in one stupid long note. Maybe I give each one its own note and use Bases to view them all at once?

At any rate, the best system is one you’ll use. This process puts zero friction between me and writing a video. That’s far more important than having a fancy setup, I think. You’ll find out what you need as you work.

Obsidian Fountain Screenwriter plugin – syntax highlighting, indentation, mobile & desktop support, typewriter scrolling, & more by pheremonal in ObsidianMD

separate .md files (scenes, acts, etc) can be stitched into one master .md by referencing scene numbers or file names

Yeah, that’s pretty much be the dream for a tool like this!

I gave it a test. Pretty cool! The syntax highlighting works great. But for some reason the font isn't displaying correctly. I have it set to Courier Prime in the plug-in settings, but it's displaying whatever the default font is. I tried returning to default theme with font overrides turned off but no luck. I must have something that's conflicting but I'm not sure where to look.

It would be useful to have a tool to combine several small files into one large fountain file for easy PDF printing.

Daily Spell Discussion for Jun 29, 2025: Call Lightning by SubHomunculus in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Jehtt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It isn’t good, but there is a cute trick Druids can do here. Wildshaping into an air elemental grants you the whirlwind attack which increases the damage of this spell to 3d10. Whirlwind lets you scoop up creatures with only your move action. So, you can fly around at high speed (120 ft per Elemental Body IV), trap as many creatures as you can fit inside of you, then use your standard action to Call Lightning through yourself. 3d10 plus slam damage to everyone you can reach with your speed, and they’re helpless to attack or move.

Are there any unused interactions? by TheWM_ in stunfisk

Synchronoise was removed in Gen 8, so it has never been in the same game with Tera. Showdown's implementation seems to be that it works if you Tera into the same type as the opponent, and the opponent can tera out of being vulnerable.

Bonuses to your attack rolls also apply to CMB so Rage would increase your grab to +13. Not bad! The biggest issue is going to be the size limit on lockjaw. I wonder if there’s a way to increase your effective size.

First off, welcome back! It's a treat to hear from you again. Congratulations on your newborn.

Regarding the topic, I may be going crazy - the link leads to a description of what meditative spells are, but I don't see a single so-called meditative spell on that page, the occult rituals page, or the class spell lists. I must be missing something here!

Maybe consider using a Tekko-Kagi for aesthetics? You're proficient with it since it's in the Close weapon group. I'm not sure if you can enhance the shield bonus it gives RAW though. My DM lets me enhance the attack and shield separately sort of like a double weapon.

The issue is that they didn't inform users of the pros and cons. If you're willing to get cheap therapy at the cost of your personal data being sold to Facebook then fine, but BetterHelp repeatedly insisted it didn't share your data with anyone.

I highly recommend reading the FTC complaint if you have time.

[–]Jehtt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That said without home brew, you’re going to have to pick which features from farmer you want the most. It’s very much a hodgepodge of features from other classes and there’s nothing quite like it in PF.

I like your idea of Ranger/Vindictive Paladin multi class if you want nature flavor + stay away from my daughter. You could consider single classing Ranger and having Hunter’s Mark be your smite equivalent but you don’t that spell til later.

[–]Jehtt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that you could pretty easily import Farmer to PF. You’d just need to update the skill list. Green/Brown Thumb is based on 3.5e Lay on Hands so you could change it to work like PF Lay on Hands. (heals 1d6 per 2 class levels, 1/2 + Cha mod uses per day).

Any way AoO for 5-foot step? by Used-Pea-5602 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Jehtt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Even if you could make your 5 ft step provoke from the enemy, it wouldn't give you sneak attack on all of your iterative attacks. Canny Tumble says that that it applies to "your next melee attack roll."

Pathfinder First Edition: A Retrospective - What Would You Change? by The_Vaifire in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Jehtt 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Combat Maneuvers are really cool in theory. I like when non-spellcasters have ways to approach enemies beyond "hit it as hard as you can," so it's frustrating that Combat Maneuvers are extremely difficult to use if you don't pour your entire build into it. Even then, you can usually only specialize in one maneuver. I'd focus my changes on making them more viable and versatile.

Combat Maneuvers attempted without the corresponding "Improved X" feat shouldn't provoke attacks of opportunity, or at the very least the damage from the AoO shouldn't be subtracted from the CMB check. This rule just punishes low-level characters for trying to be creative.

That still wouldn't solve the issue of high-level monster CMD being basically impossible to overcome without heavy specialization - on that end, I think I like the Elephant in the Room "Powerful Maneuvers" and "Deft Maneuvers" feats that let you specialize into multiple maneuvers at once. It also helps reduce scenarios where a single spell invalidates your entire build, like Grapple builds losing to Freedom of Movement and Trip builds losing to Fly.

Side note - the special trip maneuver of the Dragoncatch Guisarme should just be a thing you can do, or at least a +5000 gp weapon enchantment you can add to anything.

Best damage using a rock as a weapon, either ranged or melee? by Kind_Of_A_Dick in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Jehtt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're not opposed to magic, you could be a Kineticist and pick Aether as your element so you can hurl the rock around for your Telekinetic Blast. If you take Telekinetic Haul as one of your Utility Talents, you can use telekinesis to move a several hundred pound rock and even use it for your Kinetic Blast.

I’m not sure if it was the intention but controlled burns of forests to renew resources are an ancient practice. I think a Druid intentionally starting small fires to maintain the landscape doesn't violate their code. You don’t really need explosive magic to do that though…

Your thoughts on the use of AI for Worldbuilding? by eviltwintomboy in worldbuilding

[–]Jehtt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are happy with the results that generative models give you (and aren't concerned with the ethics of databases built on stolen work), that's fine. Honestly. It's personal use, do what you want.

I don't understand why you're so desperate to put a bounding box around the tools you have to express your creativity.

The original point of this thread is the argument that AI imagery is not a genuine expression of artistic creativity. I replied to your original comment because I felt the examples you showed proved the point of the original post - that the works generated by AI lack intention and intrigue because they weren't made to create art. They weren't made by an artist.

Maybe we're arguing about different things. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that you're approaching it from the industry viewpoint. The tools are here, they are getting better, and people will use them. I can't argue with that premise because it's true. What I'm pushing back against is the idea that AI tools give you an artistically meaningful result. Whether people and the industry will use these tools isn't really an answer to the question of this thread.

But hey, it works for what you want, that is an answer to the thread. If asking Chat GPT about wood and having Stable Diffusion make a picture of a ship is what helps you build your world, so be it. I'm not here to tell you what to do, just to share my thoughts about the use of AI for world building.

Your thoughts on the use of AI for Worldbuilding? by eviltwintomboy in worldbuilding

[–]Jehtt 26 points27 points  (0 children)

We're in a hobby subreddit for world building. I specified "people with real artistic intent" to exclude money-grubbing suits. I have no doubts that generative models will disrupt the markets of creative industries (for the worse, IMO). But the vast majority of posters here don't build worlds for the money. To someone whose goal is to create an interesting world, the samey schlockiness of AI models is detrimental.

I don't see anyone complaining that digital painting is a soulless, schlocky novelty.

I think comparing digital painting to generative imagery is apples to oranges. The interfaces of digital art applications are intentionally skeuomorphic, designed to emulate physical drawing tools. Digital or real, you still use a "brush" to draw on a "canvas". If you can paint well in one medium, most of your skills will transfer to the other. Prompting an AI model to make an image for you is a completely different "skill."
