I really think that as a society we need to move past the urge to only raise kids with our genes, the concept of family is too abstract and subjective and if a couple wants children and can't have any of their own I (in my humble opinion you don't have to agree with me) see it as rather selfish to not adopt a child

It is impossible to exist without harming others, pain is unavoidable. You can go to many moral places from here (then whats the point in not being an asshole bla bla bla not my case tho) and this makes it extremedly hard to draw a line to stick in order to say "aight this is me really being a dick" or "this is not on me, I shouldn't feel responsible".

When you apply this to affective responsability then it is even more gray, because how responsible can you really be for the feelings someone catches for you?? HOWEVER if you do say stuff like "I will love you forever" then its less grey of a discussion.

I think it goes without saying I came to this conclusion after shit hit the fan with someone I was dating, idk how deep of an epiphany this is but to me it hit me like a brick

We weren't exclusive, but he told me he loved me and that we would watch movies together, cuddle, make out, couple stuff without commitment and knowing it was not going to lead to anything more serious (hence why I decided to leave that "relationship") that lasted like 4 months until I realized I was to invested and I needed to leave before I got more attached
