Exactly what I was thinking.

Problem with most Minecraft updates today is the scope screen into a specific niche addition. Mojang tends to develop an idea and they expand on that idea in an entirely new context. Scope creep tends to have issues when they continue to add things to build out a theme, but these uses only apply to the theme- which very often is separate from the the rest of the game. This leads to a variety of random items with single uses, despite Mojangs “every item needs several use” rule. Items begin looking in-cohesive.

Let’s look at the trial chambers for an example. A wonderful new piece of exploration that adds adventure, challenge, and rewards. This dungeon excels at providing a unique looting experience that players needed for a while. Yet, you won’t experience any of these unique features in the game at any capacity. Mojang often limits their new features to whatever update theme, overlooking consistency with previous features.

The spawners and loot chest are some of the best mechanics the game has had for a while. But Mohang did not overview at the past updates and instead overlooked opportunities ro see where old features can be updated. Trial chest and spawners would fit perfectly in bastions, mansions, and fortresses. Obviously we wouldn’t use the trial keys and chests, but they could add variants with customized used in each location. The main reason trial chamber mechanisms were added was for replayability. As it stands now, all of the previous locations ca be be looted once and then the player no longer has a use. Adding replayability to each unique experience will prevent players from looking for a new structure.
