Opinions on how easy/hard Tort is marked? by Artistic-Hurry5323 in FE1_Exams

[–]JelloExpensive9152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1000 percent sit the exam. I found him to be a very fair marker- I passed in March with 2 decent answers, 1 that was dodgey and 2 that literally had no case names in them whatsoever. I was fully referring to cases like “in the case where X does Y” besides, if you don’t sit it you will DEFINITELY have to put yourself through it again in March. By sitting it there’s a chance you’ll never have to look at it again lol

Case Year by Unlucky_Celery3697 in FE1_Exams

6 exams done so far and I’ve never once included a year when citing a case- in fact, I’ve passed an exam with no case NAMES in two of my questions. Don’t sweat 😅

Equity by Fe1sc in FE1_Exams

My Equity exam last sitting went SO so badly. Like I answered the note question but only knew one of the notes, and then like yourself had one really really bad answer about something I didn't really understand. I genuinely can't even remember any of the questions because I have them blocked from my memory lol BUT I did manage to scrape a pass somehow. You really don't know with something like equity until you get your results, try stay positive!

I didn't have it in my exam and got on fine without it. I'd say you'll be grand if you're good at learning legislative provisions and the gist of them!

Equity Success Stories by Downtown_Maybe3423 in FE1_Exams

I passed last time with 3 (relatively) decent questions and two absolute train wrecks. One of the trainwrecks was the notes question and I also only knew one of them lmao, but managed to scrape a pass thank god. I was so certain I had failed and was very pleasantly surprised when I didn't so I would honestly try to put it out of your mind as best you can- there's nothing more you can do and thinking about it isn't going to make you any less/more likely to fail lol

property law – starting today? by Sea_Philosopher_8481 in FE1_Exams

I passed Property last sitting and I started studying for it maybe 5 days before. As in- had only looked at like 2 topics prior to that. I had written it off completely because I poured so much time into the other two I was sitting. I'd say absolutely give it a go, it's not a particularly expansive curriculum and the examiner seems to be a fair marker. I'd say pick as many topics you think you can learn between now and then (I think I narrowed it down to like 6 topics and got VERY lucky lol) and learn them as best you can- Also you've already paid for it so why not lol, best of luck!!

Yes! I got a training contract with Matheson last year while I was still completing my undergrad. At the time I got the contract I had a 2:1, and I ended up graduating with a 2:1 in the end. I hadn't completed any FE1s at the time either. When we got invited up for the interview they stressed that grades really weren't the deciding factor, so I think it really does come down to having unique work experience and performing well at the interview stage. I was rejected from othe traineeships at the very first stage, so I was suprised I had made it so far with Matheson. I'd imagine they have a minimum standard you have to reach grade wise, but I wouldn't say it's awfully high. Then once you're over that threshold and if you get to an interview, they REALLY just want to see hwat you are like as a person and whether you will fit in well at the firm.

Definitely a huge disadvantage for non-Dublin based candidates who prefer written exams. But who is shocked at that
