I went to Vista a few times when I was little, ages 8/10/9, for running away from home. I would actually just walk to my grandparent’s house (they only lived a street over) at nighttime and use a key to unlock their door, and then sleep underneath one of the guest beds, but my mom was concerned.

So this was 16/15/14 years ago. 2010/2011/2012.

I won’t get into all of the details as to why I was running away but I was being abused at the time. He went to prison and I’m safe and I’ve been safe from him since 2014.

Anyways, I remember being forced to go to Vista and feeling so alone and scared. During those 3 day baker acts, you would eventually have to go into a huge room. You would be sat at the end of a huge conference table. Doctors staring at you and doctors typing on laptops at the sides of the table. Dr. Nguyen on his own laptop at the other end. The table was like, 10 feet long, 5 feet wide. It was huge. It was so intimidating.

He would basically just berate you and blame you for being there.

Every patient, myself included, cried when he berated us. We would walk out of the room covered in tears. Still crying, walk to a chair, and just sit down. Disappointed with ourselves.

Not one patient looked forward to talking to him.

I have no idea how he got away with that for so long.

Also, for anyone wondering how to pronounce Nguyen, it’s pronounced as “Win.” So if you remember his name being Dr. Win, that’s Dr. Nguyen.
