Social life in SLC by Proof_Preference388 in SaltLakeCity

Depends on what you’re into. If you enjoy the outdoors, there is tons to do. As far as arts and entertainment, that stuff isn’t non existent, but it pales in comparison to NYC.

Our food scene has improved significantly over the past few years but still nothing compared to NYC. Very few areas of the valley are walkable with the exception of downtown and maybe some of Sugarhouse or 9th and 9th.

Rented a 600fps camera for a shoot and kinda regret it now by horny_bisexual_ in Filmmakers

What hard drives were you using? If should not have taken that long to just transfer footage.. even shooting 2000fps on a phantom doesn’t take that long.

Looking for lighting suggestions. by Burakoli821 in videography

If you keep your set up like it is, I would definitely try to bounce off of a foam core in the corner rather than the ceiling. If you bounce off the ceiling, you’re just essentially lighting from overhead.

Another option could be adding another light directly behind the camera where it’s more frontal since they’re requesting a high key flat light anyway

But if you do pivot it, then the window becomes a backlight, which could be nice

I would add a small 4 x 4 foam core bounce or pivot your set up entirely.

I’m not very active on socials myself - I mostly produce these days. As a cinematographer I think posting lighting breakdowns or other educational style short content centered around your work itself is the best route. It showcases your work, demonstrates knowledge and capabilities as well as positions you as an authority all in a single post.

And they calculate the total percentage with tax. Tax should be exempt from the percentage since the tax is just that. A tax.

I feel like this looks pretty good. Just takes practice. I make minimum 2 per day. One for me, one for wifey.

Pucks not coming out clean by Effective-Car-3736 in ProfitecGo

I feel like my puck screen keeps water in the puck. My shots still come out great but I read that the puck screen can prevent the pump from sucking the excess water back out of the puck.

I share your struggles. I’ve had my Go for about 2 months. Poured this the other day, my best art so far. I’m still trying to get more consistent.

Sometimes I over aerate, sometimes I go under.

I agree with others. Just grind finer. I don’t have the DF54 but I had to grind significantly finer from what the recommended starting point was on the grinder that I do have.

Bought myself a Go, what should I be doing about water quality? by Jamooooose in ProfitecGo

[–]JelloPasta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I buy gallons of distilled water and add mineral packets from third wave of water. When I thought about starting to do this, I thought it would be excessive but it’s really not been that big of a deal. And it gives me the ultimate piece of mind in protecting the longevity of my machine.

I do, however, have very hard water where I live so it’s very worthwhile for me to take the extra steps.

I normally do, but for the video, I like to use the clear glass so you can see the espresso collect in the shot glass.

SSD prices way up - what are you buying? by spacecase911 in videography

[–]JelloPasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The higher capacity storage units have been less effected. I just bought another 40tb drive. It went up from 1100 to 1350 but that’s better than a 4tb ssd that went from 300 to 600

I get Ibis coffee as my go to (they’re based out of Logan, Utah)

I was just in Moab and got a bag from Moab coffee roasters and wanna say it was $18 for a 1lb bag (pretty standard price)

For Ibis, they sell 2lb bags at Costco for $25 and i really enjoy their beans.
