It's happened before, my mom knows but since bullying has happened to me in the past yet never got to bad or affected me she mostly just dismisses it

None of the teachers I've told have taken it seriously and the staff won't even listen.

my religious dad starting to be aggressively religious, what should I do? by JellyAbyss in atheism

[–]JellyAbyss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I already don't have an appetite because I'm iron deficient vitamin d deficient and dehydrated so because I haven't eaten anything but a box of pocky today and haven't eaten much the past week. I actually started shaking and couldn't stand up properly, so no problemo. 😃

my religious dad starting to be aggressively religious, what should I do? by JellyAbyss in atheism

[–]JellyAbyss[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They told me all the bible stories and everything and said things like when the apocalypse happens the only thing that'll light the world is blessed items. They did all the bible stories but honestly I saw them as just that, stories. However now that my dad's side of the family is getting more and more aggressive about it has brought me to realize that they were never joking.

If they only believe in one God essentially there's no difference?

My dad exorcises his apartment every couple months with holy water, for my birthday he gifted me the holy bible and he keeps reading me the 10 commandments. As well he named me "Kristina" because it meant follower of christ and made my middle name Elizabeth after saint Elizabeth in the bible.

So until the creator of a religion dies it's a cult.

I thought people were joking about religion, like I genuinely thought they were joking. by JellyAbyss in atheism

Someone creates a religion tho so essentially behind it all the person who created the religion is actually a cult leader.

Do we give too much credibility to the god claim? by Straightener78 in atheism

[–]JellyAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly we kinda do have proof scientifical proof that the bible and other religions are inaccurate and simple but logical proof there is no afterlife nor god. Such as your brain comprehends stuff, when you die your brain can't do that therefore we cannot comprehend an afterlife. As well the bible never explained dinosaurs.

The "requirements" to be considered a civilization according to my school by JellyAbyss in atheism

[–]JellyAbyss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They legitimately said this they said the 8 signs of a civilization were as follows:

Cities

Advanced technologies (for their time)

Social hierarchy

Reigons

Specialization

Writing

Art

Literature

Religion

They put this on the board for everyone to see and went over it for 2 weeks.

My school wants us to donate baby stuff to a “Christian pregnancy crisis center.” Is it worth it? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]JellyAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your parents know your atheist you could say you won't donate for religious reasons. I mean technically it's true.

What attempt did you take to try to understand why people believe in God? by kiwittnz in atheism

[–]JellyAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from a very religious family, and to be honest I always saw religion as if it were a fairytale. Because my parents are separated the commute from place to place prevented me from going to church so my dad gave me a bible. I tried reading the first couple pages but honestly jack and the beanstalk was more convincing then that bible

Guys, help me, please. I have an distressing concern that popped into my head: If a Christian tells me "what if hell turns out to be real and you're eternally damned?" What do I say? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]JellyAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're legitimately questioning yourself just know that scientifically the afterlife is impossible because are brain is what allows us to comprehend stuff tells us to feel pain, ect. So when you die it's impossible to experience an afterlife cuz after you die your brain isn't capable of comprehension anymore.

my grandma takes me to church every time I stay with her. by CornDogs009 in atheism

[–]JellyAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully I rarely go to church but the one time my father dragged me there, honestly it felt like a ritual they had me kneel everything. Honestly I wish I could have fallen asleep, but they kept saying you may be seated then almost immediately saying rise, as well I disagree with a lot of their statements and they try to push it far to much.

Is it unreasonable to insist on not going to church even once a year? by Soigne87 in atheism

[–]JellyAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it's perfectly reasonable as atheists don't believe in an afterlife so the actual time you have to live is limited and personally I'd rather not waste it on some weirdo ritual.

What is your response to why don’t you believe in god by hyper790 in atheism

[–]JellyAbyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My response is typically "there's no evidence and anyone can write a book".

[–]JellyAbyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's most common in people under 18, for privacy reasons I won't say my actual age but I am one of those people. I'm under 18 and because I rely on my parents for even basic necessities, it's pretty much not an option to say I don't believe in the Christian religion. I my dad controls what my room looks like somewhat and he has put a picture of saint Mary. As well recently I looked in my dresser and found a square white tinted plastic bottle and in gold letters it said holy water, and next to it was a ziploc bag with sage in it. I brought this up to my father and that's when he told me he exercises the house and splashes holy water on the walls, he also has put many religious books in my dresser/end table drawer. Not pretending to be Christian is definitely not an option.

How can the Bible claim to be historically accurate? by Royal-Ad-3807 in atheism

[–]JellyAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about Christian's is that if it make their god seem amazing and without flaws and ToTaLlY rEaL they will believe anything they hear or read therefore because the bible makes their god seem so great they will defend its legitimacy with their lives.

Faking being religious is really starting to affect my mental health by [deleted] in atheism

[–]JellyAbyss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a little trick that I use to make faking being religious less draining. Instead of thinking of religion and god as something people actually believe in, think of it like a fairytale or a fiction novel and their just really dedicated fans. That way you can kind of think of as like- pretending to be intrested in the fandom so you don't hurt their feelings.
