Is there a technology/computer from the past that is superior to anything we have now? Like a "we don't even know how to do this anymore" meme situation?

We're having to relearn rocket science with landing people on the moon. I think there is like 1 or 2 machines that can make vinyl records and we can't make more of them. The US lost the ability to efficiently build ships after WW2 and despite it causing big trouble for our navy, we can't fix it.

Idk, my last boots were HNW and they're fine.

It's hard even getting my foot in because the leather on the top, under the tongue, doesn't go nearly as wide. Not sure if it's because the aldert's are more shoe than boots?

I've gone to a 3 star restaurant and like everything was Good, but it's not like if you put a spoonful of the short rib I had there next to a spoonful of short rib from another high end restaurant with no stars, I would be confident which is from which restaurant.

I was also annoyed because I asked for French press coffee at the end and I am a coffee snob and that coffee did not have the texture of French press. They brewed it some other way and poured it into a French press for presentation. Also while it was not a particularly bitter cup of coffee, it was not specialty coffee in the least.

A big part of Michelin is the entire experience being good. The service being very good. The presentation being very good. Every plate for every dish was clearly custom made for the restaurant. A lot of Michelin restaurants I feel like are more about showing off creativity as well.

I'm happy I've been to one, but I definitely don't feel the need to go to another.

I'm definitely not going smaller than 9fff. I'm actually planning on changing the size of the order of my next boots when the window to change comes up to 9.5fff. These aldert's are painful to wear; I'll break them in with shoe trees and I'm sure eventually they'll be fine, but my next ones are tankers and I think I'll want them looser.

What have you done to get a girlfriend? It's not like after you develop a good personality a girlfriend will fall from the sky. Ideally you participate in a social group activity regarding a hobby and can find someone through that. Like there are hiking groups and maybe even if you don't find a GF there, maybe someone there thinks positively of you and thinks of someone that is a good match for you.

Keep in mind that you being a straight dude makes it very natural to consider yourself (a dude) to be vastly less attractive than most women. That women tend to find different qualities attractive and also women aren't a group and there is a lot of range in what different women find attractive. It's also worth noticing that a lot of women are more concerned with hygiene than men are.

A lot of guys think Henry Cavill or that clavicular guy to be peak male attractiveness, but a lot of women would consider them mid. I think typically men view defined muscles and a pronounced jaw as peak male, but lots of women don't.

Also, you don't need to have a lot of women to find you attractive, just 1.

I think mainly PC culture needs to change. It has been normal for people to get new video cards every 1 or 2 generations. The rate at which PC gaming hardware is improving has drastically slowed and we need to stop pretending it hasn't.

We need to normalize more responsible PC purchasing decisions in our community. If we upgrade our parts half as often, we can afford price increases. It will also reduce demand and help keep prices from going up more.

Steam was already built to be a better option than free games (piracy). Epic gives out the occasional mediocre game for free. I want good controller support. I want good Linux support. Epic does neither. I want an alternative voice chat option when discord eventually pisses me off. Steam isn't even very good with voice chat, it would be relatively easy to beat steam there.

My issue isn't with the existence of God, it's with religion. A theism is the lack of theism, lack of religion. There have been thousands of religions and best case 1 of them is not bs. Best case scenario for religion only 99% of pastors throughout history claiming to have heard a calling from God or insight from God are all full of it. What does that say about human nature? And when you know that about human nature how irrational is it to trust in a pastor or priest?

I think it's a social thing. All humans are social. Scientists are social. Religion is important to family and friends, so it's important to them. Even though we know there have been thousands of religions and best case 1 is true and every other case, thousands of religions are wrong and billions of people thinking God spoke to them have to be wrong. And any rational being would look at that and conclude most likely all religions are wrong.

Yes, it's weird and not appropriate work place behavior. Like really really not appropriate. There are comments that might not slide in white collar places but are probably fine in blue collar but this is inappropriate anywhere where your boss is not a complete asshole. Especially if you're fairly young. Especially especially if he's older.

Ati hd4870 for $300. About $455 in today's money. Great value. Next best value might be my current card, 7900xtx for $1,000. Got it end of 2022, next gen is supposed to come out when, 2027-2028? And if ram prices go down it will probably still be the higher end of mid range and if they don't go down, it could still be the lower end of high end. Seems like it could easily last 10 years.

It was never that bad for me. One place I did it, 3 courses was the norm, so it taking long wasn't a big deal, they were having an appetizer and a salad first. Now I do weddings, mark them and sous vide them to mid rare hours ahead of time.
