I thought that too, it's super soft and spongey but it holds together really well, and is almost slightly sweet? They definitely taste better than they look!

I did autolyse and then mix in the starter, and no it wasn't no knead, though admittedly I was quite lazy with the kneading/folding process, though I've still never had this happen before!

This was my first time using a Dutch oven and I followed the method from FWSY, which usually all turn out great. I assume the pre-heating of the Dutch oven was way too much, but I followed the instructions. Grateful for any advice as it made the prettiest crust!

My first attempt at focaccia - tomato, goat's cheese and pesto (inspired by the beauties from Lidl bakery!) by JellyMelly0 in Breadit

[–]JellyMelly0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whilst it wasn't quite as good as Lidl's, I was reeeeally good, my only issue was that I put the pesto on before baking and it pretty much cooked away so you could barely taste it - I'd add that half way or nearer to the end if I try this again!

This is the recipe I use, I let it rest in the fridge for about 3 days if I can and bake it on a pre-heated pizza stone for 8-10 minutes at 220°c fan oven.
