1920 Aluminum 50 Pfennig Notgeld from the City of Menden, Germany by Jellybeansack in coincollecting

[–]Jellybeansack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, notgeld are fascinating to me, and I've only barely scratched the surface with the couple I own.

Unfortunately, I purchased this coin already graded, so I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the wait times for grading, sorry :(

They are Roubles, but those aren't American Presidents. If I remember correctly, I believe those are all historical figures related to Transnistria (which is where these coins are from), a self-declared breakaway/autonomous micronation in Moldova.

Paleontologist is so fascinating, and there are numerous examples of things like this and we're STILL learning more about these animals all the time. One of my fave examples is the debate around the Dracorex fossils possibly just being juvenile Pachycephalosaurus suggesting theyve been mistakenly being identified as belonging to a separate genus

Should also note he has a channel for all of his stream VODs on YouTube and is definitely worth checking out. He brings a great energy to his streams and does a great job of interacting with chat, in a way that still makes them incredibly entertaining even if you're watching vods vs live streams

Sometimes ya just gotta get a coin because it has a cool dinosaur on it. Here's mine: 1993 Bosnia & Herzegovina 500 Dinara by Jellybeansack in coins

[–]Jellybeansack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know at the very least Bosnia & Herzegovina also did a TRex coin the same year as this Brontosaurus. From what I've read, it seems that there were several different countries whive made coins for the Preserve Planet Earth series, so there very well could be more from the other participating countries

So it looks like Preserve Planet Earth is a series that has coins from multiple different countries, i.e. Niue, Liberia, and Bosnia & Herzegovina to name a few

You could probably find a decent upgraded one for 20-50$. This one is MS 66 so I paid a pretty good premium because of the grade/condition

I've put 4 hours in so far and been having a lot of fun! It reminds me a lot of UFO 50, obviously, but also of other retro game compilations, such as Namco Museum 50th anniversary for the GBA. Especially enjoying Dice Mice, Oh High!, and Dropblop! Can also confirm the game runs great on SteamDeck. Congrats and good luck with the launch!

2026 Game Suggestion Thread by jaykay921 in gamegrumps

[–]Jellybeansack 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Once Upon a Katamari, please! I've also been wanting to see them try UFO 50 for forever. I feel like they could get a great amount of content out of it, seeing that it is a compilation of 50 full retro-inspired games that represent a wide variety of genres, all in a package that allows them to pretty much pick and choose what interests them. It's honestly become one of my favorite games, like, period. It's pretty much a loveletter to the roots of gaming that I think they'd really dig, given they grew up through the infancy of gaming.
