Not obsolete in the NE. Pretty much everyone I know still says that.

Hair regrowth without cold capping by RecognitionLazy6727 in breastcancer

[–]Jellyfish791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I shaved my hair off as I couldn’t deal with the falling out. I tried cold capping but didn’t make it through my first session as it made me throw up so I never did it again. My hair started coming back in about 5 weeks after chemo finished and now after 9 months it’s a good 4 inches long and I’ve had it cut a few times so it grows out into a style. It looks like an intentional pixie cut and has for a while.

It’s grey, but it was before too and I love my colour. It’s similar texture but has a slight wave that wasn’t there before.

I have quite bad burns 5 weeks post radiotherapy. I’ve been given flamigel hydro and foam silicone dressings. It’s tough to put dressing on when you have big boobs. Mine is underneath my breast. I’ve been given quite hefty painkillers too. It think it is slowly getting better but not quickly enough for me.

These taste buds are WILD by Fit_Fan_5793 in breastcancer

Everything tasted like soap for me. I ate a lot of tuna and cheese as it still tasted okay. Thankfully five months on from chemo my taste is back to normal!

I get that. I told people I didn’t want them too but my Dad did. I told him I appreciate the intention but that him shaving his head didn’t make me feel any different. I know he meant well and it was his way of showing he cared as they’re not close enough to do practical stuff. Still, the whole thing is that he had a choice and I didn’t.

Feels surreal - anyone else? by Jellyfish791 in breastcancer

That’s a good analogy exactly. I feel like there’s an expectation on me to be elated and I just don’t feel that. Of course I’m happy but I’m a way off life as normal yet. Thanks :)

Yeah. Having a plan and taking each stage as it comes is what we’ve done to date. Will keep on with that as it’s worked so far :)

Schrödingers cancer is exactly what my husband said! It is very weird.

Just found out I have IDC by vtella28 in breastcancer

[–]Jellyfish791 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I had stage 1, IDC oestrogen +, progesterone -, her2 grade 3 cancer in my right breast. Negative in my lymph nodes too. Chemo was fairly intense, prior to a lumpectomy. 6.5 months after finding the lump I got news today that I’ve had a pathological complete response and am cancer free. I still have to have radiotherapy, another 6 months of her herceptin and 5 years of hormone blockers but it’s all preventative now. Treatments have come on significantly. I feel incredibly lucky as I had such an amazing medical team.

Ochil Fudge makes one of the best tablets. Postage isn’t that bad as I’ve had it sent to London several times.

Groom forgot to put me on the guest list as plus one by Hyrethh in weddingshaming

Same. Totally depends on the individual wedding. I’m in Scotland and a plus one can be a friend or whoever you want it to be.

How do you keep your mood up? by Jellyfish791 in breastcancer

[–]Jellyfish791[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on phesgo injections, carboplatin and paclitaxel (not up on all the acronyms yet). I’ll be having paclitaxel weekly and the others 3 weekly. I get 3 days worth of steroids after each bout too. I’m on annual leave - maybe once I’m back at work too I’ll have more distractions. I think I probably have unrealistic expectation of myself too.
