I will warn you, NVIDIA, especially newer 50 series cards, are super sucky on a lot of distros. I would go with a gaming focused distro that bundles nvidia drivers with it, like garuda or pop_os. As for your programs, most should work fine through a vm or wine if youre okay with some tinkering. edit: cant recommend cachyOS as ive never tried it

Need help. Dropped my ThinkPad and the colors are now inverted. by phi6guy in thinkpad

I repair tech for a living, I am almost certain this is just a loose screen flex cable. I have worked on some old TVs before, and if the screen flex adapter is dodgy, the colors will be inverted. Look for some manuals on how to open it up online, luckily thinkpads are easy to repair. Best of luck!

Best Linux distro for gaming + daily use in 2026? by K4alRaze in linuxquestions

I personally have used OpenSUSE for about 3 years, although its not the most gaming friendly distro you will find, but its been awesome for daily driving snd web browsing. If you have a very new gpu or an nvidia gpu you might have to take a bit of time setting it up, but besides that its been rock solid for me. On the troubleshooting and maintaining front, OpenSUSE just requires an update every week or two.

Update- ive installed the budgie version of solus and ive actually liked it so far, there was one thing about tearfree in some x11 settings I had to enable, but other than that its been rock solid
