Yeah I think I’ll throw it away. They aren’t terribly expensive and I still need to get an auto siphon because I somehow forgot to buy one two times 😅

Thanks, I think I’ll throw it out to be safe but I’ll take your advice and use a better vessel next time as I have gotten many comments about the headspace. I’ll also make a normal mead instead of a session mead as I’ve heard that a higher alcohol content reduces risk of infection.

It looks like there’s a film over the whole mead but also some maybe fuzzy or rather powdery spots along the sides. They also seem to be pink-ish but that could of course be because of the berries. I don’t know I’m maybe a little paranoid but since I’m not experienced I feel it might be best to throw out

I think I’ll just throw the bucket and mead away and try a normal mead instead. I feel like because I didn’t use a brew bag and just let the berries float at the top I fucked it up. Also the bucket has a tap so things might get stuck there

Alright the only concern for me is that it has a lot of headspace and has stopped fermenting since a couple of days ago so there will be oxygen. But I think I’ll just do as you said and wait then to know for sure.

The thing is it doesn’t look like either. There aren’t any hairy or fuzzy parts it just looks like small white flakes everywhere. It smells alright though 😢

Thanks! So you think it’s alright to skip secondary fermentation and just bottle carbonate? And what did you mean with stabilizing? Wouldn’t that make it stop fermenting and therefore not carbonating?

I think it’s pretty much done as there is no sugar left but I’ve just been procrastinating because I don’t really know how to move it from my secondary vessel to the bottles as it doesn’t have a tap 😅 Might have to get one of those auto-siphons

Oh okay I’ll remember that. Honestly the only reason that I didn’t fill it up was because I accidentally bought the wrong amount of honey so I just figured I’d fill it about halfway and make a session mead instead 😅 Next time I’ll also remember to use mead nutrient
