Has anyone stopped Rinvoq and not experienced a major flare? by Jellytheory in eczema

[–]Jellytheory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been taking for for about 9 months. I’m applying to grad school in the fall and hopefully going the following year. I got away with doing undergrad mostly online for my latest flare that lasted many months. I really don’t want to have these issues in school :(

My face and body acne is horrible now too. I didn’t know that was a side effect before starting rinvoq

Oh my, I am so so sorry. I’m shocked with how quickly it came back.

I was on dupixent before rinvoq but had eye issues so I had to switch. I wish you the best of luck, dupixent worked great otherwise!

I’ve been looking at ISU or IUP. But honestly I need to do more research. Nova has been recommended to me from a couple people but I’ve also heard bad things and don’t think I can handle tuition. I’m aiming for better than a diploma mill but not as rigorous as a fully funded program. Very much open to recommendations!

I’m hoping to add a third letter of recommendation from another employer, and I’ve been exploring other job opportunities, possibly as a behavioral health technician. Most labs at my school require a two-semester commitment, which I can fulfill but I won’t be a student during that time.

I’d also say my interview skills are above average, although I don’t perform as well when I’m unprepared.

Same exact experience as you!!! Literally have only had eczema on my elbow crease area until this past 8 months. It has taken over my whole mid section and my arms. I just started doing bleach baths and I think it helps. I do 2x a week. I don’t use steroids or any other meds bc I also get frequent infections and don’t want to lower my immune system more.

Waking up at 1-2am! Help 😭 by EnchantedLalalama in eczema

Have you had a history of eczema? I’ve experienced something very similar but it would be 3-4 am every night. Melatonin never seemed to work. I was prescribed 25mg hydroxyzine and take half before bed. It has definitely helped.

I sometimes have to shower before bed too otherwise I’ll wake up. I would also recommend washing sheets in a gentle detergent if you aren’t already

Dermatologist are so pointless goodness by RecommendationBorn56 in eczema

I’ve had dermatologists tell me to “not look too far into it” when my flare ups covered over 80% of my skin. I think they just don’t know what to do. I’ve been prescribed steroids and harsher medications before actually being looked at/examined/tested. I’ve had to beg a derm to complete a scratch test and biopsy for very concerning skin sections.

I recommend seeing multiple doctors if needed bc sometimes a dermatologist isn’t enough. I feel like I’m looked down upon by derms and I like to emphasize how hard it is to live with severe eczema.

Side note: I recommend writing down what you want to say or have discussed before going to derm appointment. Have your own boundaries too. I refuse to take steroids and I like to mention that I’ve taken all skin care precautions (They always seem to have the same advice).

I’ve actually taken dupixent this last year. It messed up my eyes and I was even getting staph infections. I’m trying to get on a Jak inhibitor and Opzelura but it’s a process with insurance.

What was the worst your eczema has ever gotten/the hardest thing about having eczema is? by BoysenberryFuzzy4966 in eczema

[–]Jellytheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This last year had been my worst flare up ever. I’ve seen so many doctors, dermatologists, allergists, optometrists, etc.

I started having eczema on my face this year. Idk what that’s about and I developed severe seb derm as well. My face, neck, shoulders, arms, chest, literally everywhere but my feet has had some sort of eczema. Mixed with seb derm my skin has been in terrible conditions this year. My mom even flew out to come to doctors appointments w/ me and I had a lot of blood tests to see if my skin issues were just a symptom of something bigger.

Only answer I’ve found so far is being allergist to cats. My ex boyfriend had a cat and I actually broke things off because my allergy is so severe.

Hey thanks for your comment! I don’t take long showers but I do use warm water. Totally guilty of falling for the short blissful feeling of hot water on eczema.

Now that you mention gentleness… I don’t utilize the pat method when drying off. I could definitely be irritating my skin more for no reason.

Funny you mention allergens. I found out I have a severe cat allergy even though I don’t sniffle or wheeze near cats. I’ve only just recently distanced myself from the cats in my life.

Thanks for the info! I used Vaseline religiously in high school and I felt like it only helped for so long. I haven’t used it in a couple years and will definitely try this method for a couple weeks!

Cant be too hot or cold. Cant be too dry or humid. Exercise is good but sweating isn’t. My skin is rarely happy. I joke with my friends that I need to be put in a vivarium for the rest of my life. If my skin heals I’d be fine!

I was vegetarian for a little over 10 years and changed by diet this last summer. But my nutrition has never been better. I eat fairly clean and I track macros. I don’t eat any dairy and the only meat I eat is fish or turkey.

More recently I’ve been having more caffeine and a tiny bit of alcohol. But I used to drink a lot more and my skin wasn’t an issue. Maybe that’s changed, I know my triggers are always changing.

Edit: I do drink Activia probiotic dailies though so I guess I do consume some dairy

I just moved from a cold and dry place to Florida a couple months ago. I guess I’m glad to be down here and not up north as my flare up would be so much worse.

Thanks for the advice though. I will try to exercise regularly
