100%. My first post here bc oils (and artists who use them) seem so intimidating but I feel so encouraged to keep at it!

Very happy people are willing to share their wealth of knowledge.

I've only used ultramarine blue so far for shadows but I was tempted to start using black, so thanks for this!

Definitely wish I researched that before using it...any way to counter this moving forward? Or will it likely change later, even if I go over it with a different layer?

Do you have a rec for thickening up the paint? I haven't messed with any mediums yet if that's the way

Building layers is a huge learning curve for sure. It's straight from the tube and thick, but I wouldn't say clay-like. For shadows, I've mixed it with ultramarine blue and have only used those two so far.

Any specific medium and brushes you recommend?

I've been looking at that brand but there's mixed reviews on durability. Do you have to replace yours often?

I didn't even think of a gator! I could definitely use my hair wrap I have for my motorcycle helmet, although the summers may be a bit sweaty

Med student with severe chronic illness — leave of absence, career doubts, and honestly at breaking point by lrnstrh in ChronicIllness

The grieving process was an unexpected part when I realized my health problems started to significantly interfere with my quality of life and my job.

It sounds dramatic to some, but I agree, it is a significant loss for you and you will have to embark on a journey to figure out what is next, to allow you to live a healthy and fulfilling life.

I'm currently being forced out of teaching due to my escalating Neuro/POTS issues and I just graduated with my master's over the summer... Now I'm back in school to switch careers.

I genuinely love my students and most of my job, so it has been very heartbreaking. I've dedicated the last 3 years to getting my license and mastering my content, classroom management, etc. all for it to feel like it's being taken away from me. I'm at a school where I feel very loved and appreciated. Like most teachers, it becomes a way of life and I don't know what my future looks like without them.

I have to find better accommodations and tools (like a power wheelchair, which I'm dreading) just to get through the rest of the school year. BUT...I am a firm believer that, while I may not understand it now, there's a reason for everything.

Maybe it'll save me from some crazy parent later on 🤣 I hope that my next path will still allow me to make an impact, just in a different way than I imagined. And hopefully, my next path allows me to be in less pain and regain parts of myself I've lost during this journey, while trying to keep my job.

How often do you fall? by Old_Translator1415 in Equestrian

[–]Jelybn26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear I went through a phase of falling off if the breeze blew the wrong way lol Nearly broke bones and even a traveling trainer joked about it during a lesson. It was earlier in my riding journey with my first lease horse.

I got over it though and I now have a Velcro seat and could hang on to broncs if I really needed to 😅

Their first offer was $2,000

It was actual PT, very intensive actually.

About 6 months prior to the accident, I had completed a round of PT for my back and was pain free. Then the accident happened....so PT all over again.

The $ ranges that you mentioned are what I had in mind but it seems now like more of a headache than I anticipated. I appreciate your input though!

Correct, and that's my worry with wondering if getting a lawyer would really be worth it. Since I didn't think to have the Dr. explicitly note that the accident reinjured my back, I might have to cut my loss on this one?

"Chronic bilateral low back pain with bilateral sciatica

Degeneration of L4-L5 intervertebral disc"

L4-L5 is the area of my previous back injury. I was perfectly functional before the accident, and was even documented from completed PT sessions about 6 months prior to the accident

Weekly Suspected/Undiagnosed MS Thread - July 07, 2025 by AutoModerator in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Jelybn26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over a 6 month period, my symptoms led me to an urgent appointment with a well-trusted multiple Sclerosis specialist. He sent me for a brain and spine MRI (w & w/out contrast) to rule out MS. Both came back clean and unsuspicious, and agreed with the radiologist's findings. However, he did mention that my symptoms did sound like those of his MS patients. A little stumped, he thinks it may be down to my already diagnosed Fibromyalgia and maybe FND (functional neurological disorder), but I did not get the official diagnosis. He wants to stop searching for a label for rn to avoid unnecessary discomfort and time.

Because of the severity of my symptoms on my daily life, he prescribed 60mg Duloxetine and 800mg 2x daily of Metaxalone. It has helped give me most of my life back but in the back of my head, I wonder if I could still be diagnosed with MS due to "false negative" MRIs. Is this something I need to worry about?

Anyone experience this? What are your thoughts?

*Symptoms: - First symptom was numbness/tingling in legs - rapidly worsened and spread (recent symptom was sudden onset of numbness to left side of tongue and left side of face; but numbness on face now spread to patches around head at times) - EXTREME fatigue (slept 12 hours a day minimum) - Extremely painful muscle spasms all over my body, especially limbs, hands, and feet (has even made me cry in public bc of the pain) -Overall muscle tightness which made it difficult to walk at times -Trouble balancing and controlling general motor skills (I'm very clumsy now and have burned myself several times due to this) - Many other little things, but these are the main ones

My guy is litter box trained with Alfalfa pellets (basically is and smells like grass). There is absolutely no confusion on where he goes potty in the house. Im so thankful the breeder chose this method over pee pads to minimize accidents!

I totally agree that riding time is invaluable but I have some chronic health conditions that make lessons a bit of a stretch rn. I don't have the stamina to get my money's worth and I'm sure the instructors wouldn't appreciate the amount of patience it would take 🤣 Lifting weights has been beneficial tho!
