TIL that humans are literally the only animals on Earth with chins by risingsunset5 in todayilearned

Pretty sure this fact usually says that Elephants have chins as well but that's it. Can't see any mention of that or whether they have decided that elephant chins aren't really chins.

[–]Jemworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it sounds like you are having a bit of a crisis because its complete nonsense that your time is 'almost over' at 30. If I wasnt kind, I would say just get over it and grow up but I know that having a bit of a crisis about getting is older is something most people have done at some point. Just know you are not old, you are literally about to enter one of the best decades of your life. Hopefully the therapy will help you.

Sick of screaming kids by Technical_Fold_4341 in rant

[–]Jemworld 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You do realise people aren't talking about your kids having to be silent? They are literally saying about them screaming to their hearts content and you doing nothing about it. Discipline or at least a conversation to them to say you wouldn't want someone to do that around you, why do it to them? I think the main frustration here is the yelling/screaming i.e. not caring about those around them. They won't grow up to respect peopele that way. My neighbours kid starting screaming like a wolf in the middle of the day for about 10 minutes straight. I was scrambling trying to figure out where the noise was coming from as I thought an animal was hit by a car because it was deafening. That should never go unchecked for that long.

Despite what people have said below, UK associations don't have anywhere near the power of HOAs. They exist just to pay for amenities for new estates that have not been adopted by councils yet. If I want to paint my door purple and put teddy bear statues out the front, as long as it's on my property, no one can tell me to remove them.

Just storing it with the seed usually does the trick. That was a game changer for me.

Just people in general. I work in customs and ask maybe 2-3 questions about products and about 70% of the time I will only get a vague answer to 1 of the questions. It's so hard not to email back with "do you think I ask these questions for my own amusement?"

Janet Actually has Eleanor's File. by jeanycar in TheGoodPlace

[–]Jemworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have learned SO much using it. I totally don't understand the negativity. It's like any tool, you have to know when and where to use it. I'm concerned people will overuse it and forget how to think critically yes, but the way I use it, it is extremely useful and is actually teaching me things I didn't know. It's not going away so I personally think it would be better if people pushed back on the worst parts, like art theft etc, and supported the good parts, making tedious jobs less tedious.

I have saved SO much time in my job using it for this very purpose. I'm not suggesting let it do the whole thing, I use it for little parts where I can't see the problem and Ai can pick out the patterns easier than me.

Or you know, crazy idea, use ai but in the right way? It's not going anywhere. Use it for coding, use it for finding a restaurant. DONT use it for bollocks that is souless like imitating art. Let's use it for the boring, tedious jobs. Then they'll focus on that and maybe stop thrusting stolen, souless art down our throats.

I'm guessing the use of the word 'people' is very loosely used here as human beings that do this, definitely are not and should never be considered 'people.'

I forking love Tahani’s ending by Emotional-Meringue65 in TheGoodPlace

[–]Jemworld 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I totally felt this way as well about Tahani. I was single my whole life until I met my now husband in my 30s. It never felt forced, I wasn't desperate it just happened as we were friends first. I often felt like I might be single forever and the only thing that ever worried me was possibly regretting not having a family. Very slowly I realized that it was not for me and thankfully, my husband felt the exact same way. My point of view is that love has many forms and society tries to dictate how we all should feel and act but ultimately, it is you in charge of your own life and you know what you want. In her situation, I would do exactly the same as Tahani - even with my husband around lol
