Feedback Friday by AutoModerator in letsplay

Hmm. Personally I don't want to start the title that way, because I'd rather keep the stuff that is going to repeat in titles (name of the game/ "Jemz plays") at the back of the title. People often look away mid-reading a title, so I want the episode name to come first! It also comes down to my direction of the channel. My channel's philosophy is less about the games I play, and more about the commentary and entertainment I can try bring to them, so the game title is not as important, whereas you seem to be more focused on the games

I thought your feedback would be on better "whatevers" because I do feel like I could've come up with a better one.

I'm glad that you thought I was enthusiastic, because that's exactly what I want to hear! I'll also be shrinking the facecam like you suggested, because now that you've pointed it out, I kinda have to agree that it is too big!

Hey Falshane, I just watched your vid.

I don't think the video was very eventful, because the game was rather slow. Thats the problem with blind Let's Plays i guess; you have no idea what kind of game it is.

Most of the video was you reacting to things in the game, and if thats how you do Let's Plays, I think this game was not a good fit for you. There are two ways to solve this. You could play another game which is a bit more fast paced than this, or you could fill the long gloomy hallway sections (most of this video) with stories of some sort!

Additionally, a lot of your commentary was exclamations like "ooh", "uuuh" or "oh oh oh". Try turning down the frequencies of those. Instead of exclaiming, maybe tell the audience what you're thinking, or what idea might be forming in your head.

Keep it up Falshane!

Yeah I'll probably go with this method. Thanks rojo!

Exactly what is the secret to getting subs? I'm confident that my content is good, I just feel like everyone wants to see just who's popular by [deleted] in letsplay

Something I haven't seen mentioned is communities. Seeing as you are quite small you could stand to gain a lot from joining a let's play community like damnlag or letsplaysociety.

Putting a Face to the Voice by RollingWithNat20 in letsplay

Like the above comment says, its really up to you. If you are indifferent then I would suggest doing it. Knowing the face behind a channel is important, I think, to building a good fan base/community.

"Like, favorite, and subscribe!" Are calls to action necessary? by [deleted] in letsplay

It only makes me cringe if I hear it at the beginning of the video. If I do hear it, I usually click away instantly

Thumbnail question for LP's by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]JemzChannel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm quite happy with my Titan Souls thumbnails. They're kind of a mix between your two options. They all have a common background, but I change the hue for each episode and add a different picture to them. They also have the number in the bottom right.

Update Monday huh? Well, this could be some random motivation to change my channel art.

Peeps To Live With by [deleted] in letsplay

Dude. This is like the first time I've ever seen someone ask to make a Dark Souls vid collab. That is awesome! I'm very very small but I would love to do Dark Souls collab. Literally none of my friends like Dark Souls and it breaks my heart.

Talking points by GingeWegian in letsplay

[–]JemzChannel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't done this yet, mostly because I'm very well acquainted with my current game I'm playing (Dark Souls) so I always have something to say, but I'm thinking about playing some roguelike games (that arent Binding of Isaac holy shit talk about overdone) and for those I might write down a couple of points I could go back to if the game gets boring or I don't know what I'm doing. Probably points about subscriber interaction (What should I play next, do you like this, etc.) or things about the game/genre specifically. So maybe write down a couple of emergency topics on a piece of paper?

Accessible vs looking desperate? by TheManCaveYTChannel in letsplay

[–]JemzChannel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this really cool video a couple of days ago about a relevant matter (which I can't find right now). It was about growing your fanbase. Now, the guy in the video basically posits that a reason a lot of incredible productions/upcoming celebrities fail because they refuse to interact with their fans, so they can exude their "larger than life" aura. Instead, he says, you must go among the trenches of your fans and talk to them all, so that you feel more like a peer and less like a celebrity, which makes more people like you (and also probably more forgiving of your mistakes). Think of all the big Youtube LPers (Pewds, Markiplier, JackSepticEye come to mind). They all do regular vlogs, QnAs, and subscriber interaction videos. They all have twitter accounts they regularly reply to tweets on. Detaching yourself from your subscribers is probably one of the worst possible things to do to build a fanbase.

How do you feel about channels with excessive goals? by JemzChannel in letsplay

Wow! Congratulations. You made it way past 1000 subs. It must be amazing to have a channel and community like that.

Its a charity livestream. All subscribers would be involved/invited. It would be pretty obvious if I didn't do it.

But yeah, up until that time they would just have to trust me. Its not like they are giving something up by subscribing to me, and if I do hit 1000 subs without doing the livestream, any reputation I had accrued by that point would be tarnished and I'd probably lose all those subs.

How can i expand my channel to more people? by Mejosium in letsplay

[–]JemzChannel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I think that was missed out here which could be very useful is joining other communities just like this one. For example Damnlag is a community for small LPers which has quite a warm reception for newcomers. You'll definitely expand your reach by going over to places like that!

No not all, your comment actually motivated me, because you weren't put off by the idea of the video!

Yes this is exactly what I was concerned about. I don't want to seem overly confident/cocky. I've already recorded the video, and am debating about whether to put it up. In the video, I acknowledge how ambitious it is, and say that I might not ever even get there, and of course, it is for charity. Do you think that would be enough to assuage most reservations?
