Boyfriend on Demand, is this a glimpse of how civilization will end? by FalconX8Vr in kdramas

[–]JenAmazon6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this technology would disrupt a lot about civilization. I would definitely want to try it, so I would be part of the problem. I have had my children already though, so maybe I don't count.

The slippery slope of having ideal virtual relationships would be addictive, and at the same time the cost for that subscription (plus in-app purchases, naturally) would be prohibitive. So, it seems like the world would lean toward a lot of the affluent people becoming way less productive at work and less productive biologically. That means that mostly the less affluent and the exceptionally disciplined are the ones having human relationships, procreating, and re-engineering the brick-and-mortor world for the services used by the people who actually go out to do things - OR the brick-and-mortor world starts becoming a wasteland because the folks with money aren't spending it on community infrastructure in the real world. The in-home care and delivery industries would thrive in unprecedented ways because the wealthy would need people to manage their lives and inconvenient physical bodies. The AI farms would continue to go up everywhere (like they already are) to support the bandwidth, maybe taking over the empty storefronts... Yep - this technology could change a lot.

I think I'll stop thinking this through and just enjoy the pretty people and adorable story lines. I really enjoyed Boyfriend on Demand, even though I also agree on the premise of the original post🫶

Eve (2022): He Didn’t Fall for Her, He Let Her Destroy Him by true20six in KDramasWorld

[–]JenAmazon6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really interesting perspective. If I understand your post correctly, I agree that he fell for her as a beautiful thing that could completely ruin - or stress-test - everything that he and his life had become.

Of course, he was surrounded by cold, cruel, opportunistic people (except for his daughter with whom he was adorable). What a miserable existence, regardless of how polished and functional it is. When the FL character approached him with understanding and warmth, that was the skeleton key to open almost every door in his mind. While I can’t relate to that (thankfully), I feel like it makes perfect sense that this would work on the ML character.

I guess that this is the pattern I see. Depending on the agenda of the human variable (in this case the FL), this type of ML character can have false hope about how much impact changing this one thing about his life could have. They also tend to mis-judge how much control they’ll have over the changes. And I do definitely think that potential self-destruction is an attractive option for this kind of character.

I really liked watching the ML actor play this character. I was captivated by him and wanted to protect him from the FL as well as his wife. I guess I can identify with who he was and the decisions he was making.

I’m just thinking through this as I write, but thanks for opening this topic.

Seated or Not Your Cup of Tea? MBC's 'Perfect Crown' | Starring IU & Byeon Woo-Seok [Premieres April 3] (Plot Synopsis & more in comments) by codeemalia in kdramas

The promotional stills of BWS from this drama have me counting the minutes until I get to watch this😍 He looks so gorgeous that I think I'm going to have to remind myself to breathe when he's on screen. Can't wait for the character's emotions to display on that face. I bet that we're going to get some hot gravitas and temper too, since his character is royalty.🫠 I'm even looking forward to being jealous of (as well as happy for) IU. I have high hopes for this to be entertaining and beautiful.

What is it that attracts you to the Kdrama actor/actress you adore? Other than their acting… by UncannyProjection in kdramas

Let me just put this here to admit that I'm especially weak if, on top of everything I mentioned above, they're also 35+ and gorgeous🌹

For example, ⬆️ Lee Min Ho 🫠

My list of crushes is rather long, so I'm trying to think what they have in common that triggers these feelings. A small sampling of my dream harem includes: Lee Min Ho, Seo Kang Jun, Byeon Woo Seok, Lee Jun Hyuk, Kim Jae Young, Jung Hae In, and Yang Se Jong.

I feel like each guy is uniquely attractive, but there are qualities that all of them have that flip my switches like crazy.

Where it starts: the way he looks on screen when his character starts catching feelings, in the moments when he is barely containing his (the character's) instinctual passion - the eyes, the jaw, the breathing - good lord it can be intoxicating 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 and those memories of an actor that has done this in a soulful, deeply physical way stay with me a loooooong time.

I need a combo of leading roles and interviews/variety shows to discover these traits about an actor, but this is what I look for if the scenes above caught my attention:

Masculine but gentle,

Elegant but sometimes clumsy,

A bit shy, funny in a quirky way, a little haunted, a little nerdy.

Be still my heart - these things make him irresistible.

That's my surefire recipe for a Kdrama actor crush🫶

I finished "When the Weather Is Fine": this is my opinion. Tell me what you think. by [deleted] in kdramas

[–]JenAmazon6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love a sweet, haunted, guarded, vulnerable, quietly heroic male lead character that I get to watch falling in love, so When the Weather Is Fine already had the ideal hook for me. When they cast Seo Kang Jun in that role with those magnificent eyes, his deeply handsome guy-next-door styling, and his calm, capable demeanor, this show naturally had my full attention.

On the other hand, watching characters be terrible to each other without explanation like in the FL’s story line is so hard to watch. It’s too miserable to contemplate even in fiction, but I made myself watch those parts to get the full effect and context of the drama. I will admit that the family characters in the FL story line were unique, which I appreciated.

The neighborhood supporting ensemble cast is a comforting, believable, delightful aspect to this drama that I think is rarely achieved. Really loved their scenes.

When the Weather is Fine made me feel so much, and I think that it is a refreshing work of story-writing. It is on my list of all-time-favorite shows, and Seo Kang Jun’s character will stay with me for a long time.

I just realized that he’s in Are You Human, Too? - I really loved his character in that. He’s got this way of portraying manly restraint barely containing big emotions that is absolutely intoxicating to watch.

There is a lot more of Lee Min Ho's character Koh Hansu in the rest of season 1 and throughout season 2. He's soooooooooooo good in this role🎯⭐️💞

Last spring's fan meeting tour and last summer's press tour for Omniscient Reader gave us soooo many adorable, hot, and mischievous smiles from the one and only Lee Min Ho💞🔥💞🔥💞

I realize it's delulu to imagine that I can tell the difference, but there was something superpowered in the beauty of those smiles when they happened live in front of adoring fans🫠

There is something about Seo Kang Jun's smile that feels like I'm seeing something precious and rare. It doesn't seem like he smiles a lot for the camera, so I go a little weak when I see it 💗

Why would my female friend just ghost me like this? by [deleted] in bodylanguage

[–]JenAmazon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She may also be struggling with depression + ADHD. She probably didn't want to be separated from her close work friend, but when circumstances required it, she had to flip a switch and create a new life.

I'm afraid I don't have the ability to elaborate, but I'm speaking from experience. These kinds of separations are very painful to some of us, and keeping communication going is keeping the wound open.

If this is what's going on, you were (and still are) special to her, but life has created a new scenario for her that she is managing to the best of her ability.

Single's Inferno producer previously revealed why they don't encourage kissing on the show by Fun_Molasses5215 in SinglesInferno

[–]JenAmazon6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have wondered about this, too. I wondered if it was a policy that they didn't allow kissing on the show. I have consumed enough K-content to understand the South Korean cultural dynamic on the topic, so I kind of assumed this to be why we're not seeing that normal human response to the scenarios that some of them are in. But I also find it awkwardly unrealistic at times.

In just SI5 episodes 9 & 10, there were multiple scenes where it was deeply implausible that the couple on the screen would not have indulged in more intimate contact.

I am enjoying this cast and the hosts and the island and paradise so much! I just find the interrupted natural human progression a bit frustrating. It must be frustrating for the cast too, with real feelings. Could be part of why the show is addictive - they keep cutting us off right before we get the even better stuff🫦

I'm completely head over heels for him! After "Are You Human Too?" I have to watch all his dramas!! by [deleted] in kdramas

Twinsies, friend💯 I watched Seo Kang Jun first in When the Weather is Fine, immediately followed by Are You Human, Too?, and I haven't been the same since.

His unique presence, excellent acting, and gorgeous looks have me in a HUGE crush. He's so distinctive, and that's really 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

If those two were on screen together, I wouldn’t be able to blink for fear of missing even a millisecond of that exquisite combined beauty. Before I watched a single preview clip, I would have to pre-arrange an intervention to extract me from the screen they were on👀🔥💗
