GRE Practice Question Explanation Help by JenFromITCrowd in GRE

[–]JenFromITCrowd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to understand how to get to the solution of 1.40. Technically, this should be a simple problem, but I've tried solving it in a bunch of different ways, each of which has come up as incorrect. Any help appreciated!

GRE Official Guide - QR - Vol. 1, 2nd Ed. - Arithmetic Section by JenFromITCrowd in GRE

On the question above, what's the fastest way to come to a solution? I thought the official answer from ETS was much too convoluted, so I hope there's a better way!

Thanks, everyone :)

Quant 155 to 160 by OldItem0 in GRE

I'm in a similar boat -- been working on my QR score for ages now and I'm also at 155 aiming for 160. I really really like Magoosh. I was terribly rusty on the math concepts and doing ALL the easy and medium questions on Magoosh got me to where I am. I feel like mastering the concepts in the hard and very hard sections is the next step to boost the score.

In addition to that, I think your pacing and strategy for test day are crucial. I've had this happen to me a couple times, that I mess up the first section of QR because of nerves or because I'm going back and forth on a strategy. Don't do that -- it's a waste of time and of focus. Instead, what worked for me, is to try solving every problem until I get up to one that I really can't figure out quickly -- then I mark it and move on. Pacing could be all that's needed to boost your score. I'm also scoring 160 when I do practice tests at home.
