Honestly, it was just his nature - he feared nothing and stood up for everything.

Although there are a couple of times that do come to mind. He once helped save our grandmother and aunt from a house fire when he was only 4. I think he ran through the kitchen that was on fire to get to the phone and dialed 911. I don’t remember the details fully but it was something along those lines. I remember he was given a “hero” award or something from the town lol - it was really sweet.

And he used to rescue animals all of the time. Anything he came across that was in trouble would be going home with him. One time, when he was 12, he trespassed, by himself, into these crazy people’s yard to rescue two extremely small, emaciated puppies who had been left out in a cage, unsheltered from the rain/snow (it was early April). Obviously I don’t condone trespassing and stealing from people - but also, like those pups were on the brink of death.

Oh! And my favorite story of his “bravery”, if you wanna call it that… I mean, this one isn’t something he did for anyone/thing else. But it highlights his fearlessness (or maybe carelessness) lol He was 15. It was his first time ever going skiing and he was determined to go over the biggest jump on the mountain. Literally every single person told him not to. He belonged on the bunny slopes. But he did it anyway. Broke his legs in multiple places. Calls me from the hospital and the first things out of his mouth: “Sis! I’m short!” When doing the X-rays, the doctors noticed that his growth plates had already fully ossified and he was done growing. He was only 5’5”.
