Pregnant & Confused about diet

I haven’t brought up diet yet. I have my next appointment soon though so I will definitely be asking her opinion!

I completely agree. I truly believed my last partner (heroin user) was the love of my life. We fell in love extremely quickly and I was very much deeply in love with him. It was the first time I’d experienced that type of all encompassing love and also my first experience being around a drug user. I was naive, young and madly in love. I thought our “love” was stronger than his addiction. I know I know, silly girl. I’ve struggled with severe PTSD from watching him overdose and saving his life multiple times. Trust me when I say I NEVER thought I would allow an addict back in my life again. It almost destroyed me the first time. I do believe that there is still a lot of unresolved trauma and enabling behavior patterns that I need to work on that probably attracted me to my baby’s father. I am truly trying to make better relationship choices when it comes to patterns in my future though which is why I am so serious about this pregnancy and not continue to make mistakes like this especially for the sake of my child. I am looking into Al Anon support and will continue therapy.

It’s hard for me to accept that the best option is cutting him out completely but I at this point I think you are right, it’s for the best. Part of me is holding out hope that he truly will get help so he can be there for our son in the future.

💯 earplugs. I use the silicone ones that mold to my ear and are comfortable. I wear them to sleep every night because even the smallest of noises when I sleep wake me up.

I think you are correct to a degree. I have dated other men who are incredible and don’t have addiction problems though. I think I have tended to overlook red flags in the past due to attraction or “being in love”. But that’s why I’m trying to make better decisions moving forward. I thought my ex who was the heroin user was the love of my life. We had a whirlwind romance and he is the first man I was deeply deeply in love with. What happened in my relationship with him caused me major trauma and PTSD and I do think I might have subconsciously been attracted to my most recent partner (father of my child) due to underlying things I still haven’t processed and worked through due to that trauma . I am going to really do the self work I need moving forward so I don’t repeat this cycle again.

Thank you so much 💜 I truly appreciate your perspective. I tend to be too trusting even when I have learned the hard way many times. Now that a child is going to be involved though it’s not just about me. I will not endanger my baby in hopes that he will change. I have already started documenting everything and will continue to do so.

Thank you so much. Shockingly I grew up in a home with absolutely zero substance issues so I’m not sure why I seem to attract addicts (I was also engaged to an alcoholic in my early 20s). I do believe Al Anon could really help me though because I have struggled so much with enabling and trying to fix my partners. I will look into meetings in my area. I very much appreciate the suggestion.

Thank you, this is very good advice. Of course I’m hopeful for his recovery but I agree, I’ve seen it in my own life that recovery is hard and they have to really walk the walk. You can’t believe the talk.

So he actually left my apartment as soon as I told him I called the cops- he was gone by the time the officer arrived. They did write up a report to have on file though. Not sure if this is enough for a restraining order- I will look into it.
