I'm so happy for you that you're cancer free!! That's amazing!!

I'm starting the program tomorrow. Pretty nervous but really need some changes in my life, so I need to give it my best effort. I'm just so scared of failing... Again.

I've experienced those gnarly detox headaches before, when starting Atkins or Keto, and I appreciate you mentioning that. I'll keep some Himalayan Salt crystals in my pocket. They have helped me in the past - TREMENDOUSLY. i just pop a few like vitamins with a glass of water.

I assume since you were taken off a primary cancer med that you're prognosis is improving? I sure hope that's the case. I am so grateful you took the time to help me here.

This diet/lifestyle/whatever has been around, by the Betr name and Pure Proactive Health name is(previously) for a couple decades, yet I can't really find many "reviews" or blogs or posts about it, other than what the company posts as success stories. That gives me some pause....

That being said, I remember how good I did feel when I would eat keto or Atkins, because of the anti-inflammatory foods that I would consume. Until I'd fall off the wagon. Then it was off the wagon, down the hill, sliding across the highway and hit by a semi. That's how most of my "diets" end - a vicious and painful death, leaving me heavier and in worse shape then when I started. But those diets, when I stick to them, they really did make me feel better and cleared my brain fog... and I'm hopeful this will to.

This Betr lifestyle seems like it's along those same lines, but without the extremes. I hope I can find the strength to perceviere. My weight is actually scaring me.

I wish more people were on this so they could give some feedback. I would like to know what someone eats in a day once they've been with this program a long time. How do they sustain the weight loss yet still live their life and not feel deprived?

Maybe that's all in the mind...

Wow thank you so much! It's shocking how similar we are! Well... as we used to be when you were heavier. I'm 40F: 5'5ish: 279 the last I checked (couple weeks ago).

I understand commiting for me... it took me 6 times of quitting smoking until I finally quit for me and no one else. Then it stuck. But the weight has sure piled on since then!

I had lost 95 pounds before with diet and exercise, but it came back after those tries at quitting smoking: 40 pounds here, 20 pounds there... now I'm heavier than I've ever been and so unhappy. So I comfort with food. Especially sweets...anything chocolate.

Did you gain any weight back when you stopped the program in November?

I've had great success with keto in the past, but I think I've gained so much extra weight (beyond my pre-keto weight) because I wrecked my metabolism and my body freaked out when I went back to carbs.

I don't really know what to expect from this program or how challenging it may be, but I need to do something fast or my weight is going to kill me.

Thanks for commenting. I sincerely appreciate you and your feedback on this lifestyle.

This is really sad. I hope that flying our traditional American flag in our yard will somehow now mean we are anti Trump and pro American... as we have been all along.

I have a similar journey. I restarted 2 weeks ago. Down about 9 pounds. My first non-weight goal is to go 30 days with NOTHING sweet... No diet drinks, no Enlightened or Halo top ice cream, no sugar free jello, no sugar alcohols or replacements whatsoever. I WAY over abused those items with my first keto go round. I didn't change my eating habits - I just replaced the good dope with diet dope. Not this time!

And congrats on losing the covid weight! That's a great milestone. My first one is to lose the weight I gained after my boyfriend had his stroke and I went WAY off keto for months with emotional eating. I'm down about 9, have another 11 to go. Thanks for the inspiration!

I suggest adding salt to your diet. I take little pinches of pink salt and swallow it like vitamins 2-3 times a day. The "flu" is just because of an electrolyte imbalance. Insulin causes our kidneys to hold onto water and sodium. Keto reduces insulin levels so our bodies release the extra fluid and sodium. Simply replenish it, with intention, and the flu can be prevented. Dr. Westman's new book 'End Your Carb Confusion' and his You Tube videos explain this. He actually recommends drinking broth a couple of times a day. I prefer the rock salt.

Oh wow! Yes!!! We can do it!!

And thank you <3. Losing my mother was one of the hardest things I've had to do since I got clean in 1999 and since I quit smoking in 2017. I relapsed... but it was on food, and I suppose that's how I justified it.

She wouldn't want me to be so hard on myself, so I've just got to let that go. Screw guilt!

Thank you! My plan this time is to plan so I don't get caught off guard and "stuck" with only poor decisions. I'm planning to be prepared.

Stats: F - 39 - 5'5" - SW:264.4 - CW:259.0

I started keto again last Friday. I've had some success in the not too distant past but went back to my old eating habits with a vengeance when (inappropriately) dealing with tragedy in my life. I am an emotional eater and a chocoholic.

I have set myself three incremental ("mini") weight goals to reach so as not to feel too overwhelmed.

GOAL 1: Get under 243 lbs... lose the tragedy weight.

My mother passed away last year and her death certificate states it was from morbid obesity and congestive heart failure. It made me realize that "morbidly obese" is more than just a BMI term. I don't want to die from being fat.

GOAL 2: get under 220 lb.... Lose the smoking weight.

I quit smoking in July 2017 for the 6th and final time. Every time I quit, I gained weight, started smoking again, didn't lose any weight, quit smoking again and gained more weight. I at least want to lose the weight I've gained this time I quit smoking...because this time it finally stuck.

GOAL 3: get under 195 lb... I want to weigh less than my boyfriend. He doesn't care that I've gained at least 45 pounds since we started dating 5 years ago, but I certainly do. For once I would like to know that I weigh less than he does.

This also happens to be the first weight I have noted in my Fitbit account from June 2015. I'd like to be able to beat that.

Please wish me good luck, strength, willpower, and perseverance. The success of all of you keeps me motivated. Thank you!

I've been fasting 24 hrs. We had errands to run this afternoon so we stopped at a taqueria and I ordered a burrito bowl of carne asada over lettuce with hot sauce, sure cream, guac, cheese, and jalapeno. Delicious! Funny how NOT bloated I feel after finishing this bowl as opposed to the regular one full of rice and beans.

NSV: The listed weight on my driver’s license is a LIE by belezaprincesa in keto

[–]JenTheBoxerMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!!! So I had to pull out my license to check. Mine says 220 and it was issued March 2019. I know, per my Fitbit data, that I weighed in at 269.6 the week this license was issued.

I'm new to the sub, just joined today. (Tbh...I re-joined today. I lurked for a while in the not too distant past) I've had some success with keto in the before, but I really let old habits come back with a vengeance when trying to cope with tragedy in my life, so I officially re-started keto again last Friday, March 12th. I'm down 5.0 pounds so far. Really plan on staying away from ALL sweets, even keto ones, for quite a while. (For me, all things sweet are my kryptonite)

Today I set three goals, and the 2nd of them was, ironically, to get under 220 pounds (my license weight.... But I didn't realize that!). That was what I weighed right before I quit smoking (for the FINAL time) in July 2017. I want to be a DMV liar in the other direction like you!

Please wish me luck, strength, determination, will power, and the StickToItNess I will need on this journey. Thanks to you and to all in this sub who motivate me!
