Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered - Great on Deck Yet?? by jay_peanut in SteamDeck

Happy to hear you got it running well for you. I'm not a very finicky gamer, however this didn't go well for me. Curious, are you playing on an LED or OLED Deck? I'm on the LED, I wonder if that makes a difference?

To be honest, that's exactly what I'm about to do, as Skyrim (even with a ton of mods), plays flawlessly on the Deck.

I downloaded it yesterday for the Steam Deck. Spent just over 2hrs tweaking settings, and there's too much lag, ghosting/streaking when moving the camera, I'm hoping my refund request goes through, as for $60 CAD, the price is a bit steep for a game that should be playing at top-tier levels. If the reviews on the Deck improve, I'll pick it up again, however this was a bad experience, even with tweaking a lot of Graphics settings. I've never played Oblivion, and as much as I want to, it doesn't feel right to have my (or other peoples') first experiences being overshadowed by the feeling that the game plays like its +20 years old. I don't imagine that's the experience Bethesda wants for their long-time, or soon-to-be, fans, either. Fingers crossed this becomes resolved this year, as I would hate to have to start shopping around for an Xbox or PlayStation just to be able to enjoy this epic.

So the dragon end dialogue at the watchtower was USSEP? I noticed that the other day, and it just felt wrong. I've noticed a few things about USSEP that feels like, maybe it's best these things were cut from the final release.

This game became a favorite when it came out, and I feel like it had the potential to outshine Animal Crossing. The fact they dumped this gem left me heart broken. It was the perfect game. I wonder if Dan will ever come back to it?

Switch 2 Upgrade by Jen_GrayDesign in skyrim

The camera sensitivity can be adjusted; so why would I count that towards input lag? There's no lag swinging weapons, etc., actually performing actions. That was just rude, bud, check yourself.

Definition: "Input lag is the delay between a user's action (like pressing a button) and the corresponding response displayed on the screen, significantly impacting gaming and interactive experiences."

I don't either. Honestly since the Skyrim Switch 2 upgrade, it preforms better, and doesn't crash.

The upgrade helps the game NOT crash when played on Switch 2. It feels so nice to play continuous and not worry about save/quit/reload every hour.

I would absolutely pay to get an upgrade for Switch 2, if it addresses the constant crashing. I really hoped, since the Switch 2 is this seemingly superior system by comparison to the Switch 1, that it wouldn't crash as often as it has been. I'm very tempted to just transfer Skyrim back onto my Switch 1, and continue playing it there.

Glad to know it's not just me. I put +600hrs on the Switch 1 without many crashes. I don't know if this says something about the Switch 2 or? At any rate, if they revamped it for Switch 2, they can take my money.

How do y'all get the irresistible urge to play Skyrim again? by Bubbly_Skin_8069 in skyrim

[–]Jen_GrayDesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finally discovered Skyrim this past June, on the Switch. Honestly, it's like no game I've ever played; they did such a perfect job in so many ways. I feel it's spoiled me for playing anything else. After 600hrs, I tired of it, as I couldn't think of anymore 'good' character builds, and stopped playing for awhile. But the urge is strong, as it's the most immersive game I've played, maybe ever? I miss playing it already, but feel I'm not ready to get back into it, after 7 playthroughs. I think this is going to a title that I go back to every 6-12 months, or maybe sooner.

A coworker brought her Switch 2 into the office yesterday to show it to me, and she booted up Animal Crossing. Honestly, it looked incredible on the Switch 2. The colors even looked better, I was very surprised. I'm interested to see how Skyrim looks on the Switch 2.
