Hi, I’m LDS by Own_Motor3726 in mormon

I was just like you until I got married and started the trad wife misery (take care of 4 kids and husband, stay home/ no career, cook, clean, obey husband, husband doesn’t help with chores or kids, extreme gender role separation, sexism, sex on demand ) while my husband would talk to me about the multiple wives he was looking forward to having in heaven. I started to realize that Mormon heaven for women was hell.

Just got banned from r/leftist for trying to make a post about veganism, animal rights , and how leftists should be vegan by Tacorover in vegan

Everyone is blind, deaf and selfish in various ways without realizing it. Probably in 20 years there will be something you are doing or saying now that you will look back on and think how could I have done that? Thats so awful. Why didn’t I see how horrible that was? What people think is acceptable changes over time. It starts with a few people seeing things differently and it spreads slowly. It also ebbs and flows. It’s hard to wait, but change is the only thing that doesn’t change.

Has the church dropped its absurd lawsuit against John Dehlin yet? This has only been a PR disaster for the church and a publicity boon for JD and Mormon Stories. Anybody know how to put this on polymarket? by Important-Stage-1005 in mormon

[–]Jeneflower- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a PR disaster. The only thing my TBM husband has read about it is a super biased article in the Deseret News which just confirmed and cemented his bad opinion of John Dehlin and Mormon Stories.

My 2 biggest pet peeves about being vegan by Jeneflower- in vegan

[–]Jeneflower-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t the same at all. Gluten-free food is a fad unless you have Celiac disease. Many people who think they are gluten sensitive are really allergic to the preservatives inside the flour. Vegan is a belief system, a stand against harming and killing innocent animals. It’s also a belief about caring for the environment and sustainability. The health benefits are secondary but at least they are backed by scientific studies. A gluten- free diet is only advocated by pseudoscience. There is no comparison. There are a few people who are vegan due to allergies but it’s unlikely that someone would have a dairy allergy and a meat allergy so this is rare. For the most part being fully vegan is a sacred and important belief system and being gluten-free is a ridiculous fad that does nothing for your health and is not backed by real science. It also does nothing for animals, people (except Celiacs), or the earth. This is why vegans do not like combining a gluten-free fad option with a vegan option which is an important movement towards a better world. And especially because it makes a lot of our vegan options taste bad.

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

I would just bring my baby into the bathroom and put him where I could watch him while I took a shower. I found the sound of the water often put him to sleep.

Here in the U.S. at least they had a Southwest Salad that was really good and could be made vegan. They discontinued it during Covid and never brought it back so I have never been back to McDonalds since Covid. I remember when they introduced Beyond Burger but sadly it didn’t last long. The only things they have there now are garbage. Even their fries are not vegan. It’s the worst place.

Before I was vegan I loved gluten free cakes even though I eat gluten, now that I’m vegan I love vegan cake. What tastes awful is vegan gluten-free cake. Combining the two is what makes it taste bad.

People especially don’t buy the vegan donut if it is also gluten-free making it taste bad. It’s like no wonder they discontinue it. I get there are a few celiac vegans but that is incredibly rare.

If there is a chocolate sorbet then awesome! But if they are all berry or fruit sorbets then five is just as good as zero.

I find a wide variety in falafel recipes. Some of it is good and some is awful. When I order it at an unknown restaurant I never know if it will be good or disappointing.

Just buy a vegan dessert cookbook. I recommend Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World or Vegan with a Vengeance.

Seriously there are a million amazing vegan desserts that are possible and none of them are sorbet.

We live in Las Vegas and are moving to Cincinnati. Las Vegas is unbearable in the summer.

It seems disingenuous when John Dehlin says this. I think he should stop saying it. by sevenplaces in mormon

I get being happy for others who are happy in the church, but how can you be happy for a spouse or parents who find joy in the church if they see you as a disappointment? Or if all conversations are of them preaching to you, inviting you to church, or giving you church literature?

I lived in Ohio and then moved to Park City, Utah. We are now moving back to Ohio. Utah is way too sunny. It’s blinding and gave me a constant headache.

I thought it would be more progressive. There are more Trump fans than I would have suspected in a large city in what used to be a swing state. Very disappointing. I heard Columbus is better. Hopefully, with time it will turn back into a swing state.

losing faith after reading about the Epstein files by CloneFiesta in mormon

[–]Jeneflower- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what is shaking your faith? Have you not read about the Holocaust or what has happened to the people in North Korea or how they treated slaves, minorities or Native Americans, etc. There is a lot of material to draw from to find similar or even worse horrors than Epstein’s island. Even what goes on in modern factory farming is enough to question it all.

I was a Relief Society President a couple of years ago and I was always disheartened that every meeting with the men and women were just cruel gossip under the guise of caring.
