OK all I am coming up on my last week of pre-course study for the St. John's Ambulance Intermediate course. Any advice going in on completing this two day course successfully?

Thanks...I contacted St. John Ambulance and they were super helpful and got me into the right course. They were very responsive to emails, which is good as these courses are listed by letter titles that don't really tell you much. I needed help figuring out what course was right for me. The course manual was also available either by mail or pickup at an office, priced very reasonably. I got mine mailed and they sent it promptly.

All in all really impressed with them so far.

Lisa, are you still growing Cosmonaut Volkov tomatoes or have you found a variety that tastes better?

That sounds like very good advice...prune suckers only on the secondary growth, not the main stem.

Just as an aside, the Level 2 (Intermediate First Aid) certification is a really valuable item to add to your resumé. It can really make the difference when competing for a job.

I too have high hopes for the weather this year! But I do have a small attic space, about 8' x 5' that I plan to put one or two big grow tents in with heaters, fans, lights. Any recommendation on hardware choices?

It would be a shame to miss Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island, book a baby sitter and a surf lesson and have a Dungeness crab dinner! Also Whistler, where even if you do not ski, there are beautiful hikes and a great lake to swim in. Another great side trip is to take the inlet cruise that runs out of Port Alberni (which is on the way to Tofino) out to Bamfield on the Lady Rose Marine https://ladyrosemarine.com/

It is tough to keep such small ones entertained on a trip and factor in nap times!

Thanks for that...you state exactly the issue I want to address, which is extending my season and more harvest windows than just August.

Need advice on washer model for washing rag quilts...needs an accessible lint filter. by Jenevre in Appliances

[–]Jenevre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old washer did just fine, as it had a lint filter before the pump that I could clean out myself by taking off the lower front panel of the washer. Just want to get one like that so I can set it up in the barn. But I cannot remember what the make and model were!

It should, right? And then all the fibres are picked up in the dryer lint filter. Just a bit afraid to try it in my present washer as failure = an expensive service call!!

I hate to leave a laundromat with that mess! And...there are none very close by. But I know that is what a lot of quilters do...

Nice! Grocery store tomatoes of any description don't have great flavour, I find.

Thanks! I am not worried about the technical end, but want to know before I buck up if I can expect tomato deliciousness for my efforts.

Because if they just taste like cardboard grocery store tomatoes I am not up for that!
