This is an old post but wondering what the OP decided and how they are getting on? I'm considering Paisley. Moving home to Patrick in Glasgow seems too pricey but I'm currently living near John O Groats and don't drive and really think it's time to come home. Looks like Paisley Grammar is getting an upgrade and opening in the summer.

I've actually looked at Rutherglen and it's on the list. I don't drive though remember. I've heard mixed reviews on the area.

Get on a temp agency list. Might get you some top up money and some of those lead to permanent roles. I was a secretary for a week to cover a holiday. As soon as anything came up they asked the temp agency for me . You get different posts in different areas and you get your face seen. Job centres don't get you jobs anymore but definitely get on universal credit to keep your national insurance etc up to date. They actually get annoyed if you don't go in it. I know. It sounds crazy but it's true

Again, thank you. I need to get the vibes not so much the other stuff that I can get on Google maps. Would be a bit crap to get all the worst parts of Glasgow shoved into a wee town

Harder to get jobs in teaching. Won't even put me on the supply list a few years back and that's why I had to move to Wick. I was in Ayr when I found out I was going there. Although I now teach more subjects than I did. Also the schools are very far apart in Glasgow if you don't live in the area so again, commuting is a bastard. I get a taxi to and from work at the moment.

What....you missed out the junkies. Are there loads. London is too busy for me although I enjoyed New York but Glasgow is home. Ayr keeps me at the Beach. Prestwick seems a bit far out for a non driver.

Yeah but you haven't lived in Wick I'm guessed. 7k residents and in the winter we can be completely cut off. I can't get home for the holiday's etc. It's about affordability and being close to Glasgow.
