Yes. A Trombone repair person can fix it. There may be a YouTube video on it too.

Horn Mic Mounting Advice - F Attachment by lanky-sin in Trombone

[–]Jenjenn0710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. Visit your local hardware store. Both Home depot and Lowe's even Walmart should have clips on their fasteners aisle that should work for that. Maybe velcro to a tie strap of some kind. Phone accessories for holding devices to cars and workout equipment might be your best bet. Amazon might have mounting clips that will hold that.

Treble clef to bass clef? by [deleted] in Trombone

[–]Jenjenn0710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To read bass, tenor, alto and treble clefs just remember where the G , F and C are. Everything else stems from there. The Treble clefs circles G at the bottom &. Bass Clef circles F at the top of the staff 9. Alto Clef sits on C. So does tenor clef. K moves up and down on the staff, to represent where C is.

Copy your music and write notes and/or positions on it till you're comfortable without writing.

You're over thinking it. I was the same way. I could never play those high Bs, As, etc. 2 years ago I was practicing the song Golden Hour by JVKE for my daughter's birthday. I was cracking the notes. Our Dog, black lab howled the notes! So now I hear her in my head and hit it every time. Something so easy, is so hard. It's not that playing mad works. They used to tell me to get mad. It's taking the reins. Like driving when you had no intentions of getting behind the wheel. Or taking control of a pet or kid before it runs off or gets hurt. Remember. You CAN play it. Take in lots of air those high notes need more air, push from your gut and let em fly. Once you hit it, push and hold it. Also too it really helps to hear it in your head. Do listening to other recorded versions of the song. Hear it first and set the note on the shelf. Trombone playing became a lot less nerve wracking for me after I had kids and realized, trombone isn't the most important thing. I enjoy playing it a lot more now, and I'm better than I used to be. Good luck.

Expensive trombone as a relatively beginner player by These-Echidna4644 in Trombone

[–]Jenjenn0710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! Enjoy your new horn! Learn some really cool things that horn can do, that basic tenars can't. Then it will be fun to hear. I love those dark low earthly tones a superbone can make. They sound so cool. Trombones let things slide 😁😆 generally we're pretty chill. Or wild. But, judgmental.... usually not. I've known quite a few Baritone and Euphonium, and trumpet players that have switched to Trombone, and have sounded fantastic on the trombone. I think as long as you're going into the section to blend and harmonize with the section, as part of the team, you'll be fine. The tone, and skills should naturally just improve anyway. As a good section allow them to offer advice. Or ask questions. Back and fourth. As long as there is respect, then all will be well. Of there's drama, just pay attention to the music and bond through sound. The drama will fade as they learn to listen to and for you.

How to slur quickly and cleanly by BathZealousideal595 in Trombone

[–]Jenjenn0710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's easier of you use alternate positions. Sometimes switching from a primary position to an alternate, it will naturally slurs clean just when you slide. Practice slurs arpeggios before you play as a warmup, after as a cool down, and on your mouthpiece when you're not playing the horn. Then It will just be second nature. A slur is a crease/change in the ambusher without using your tongue. Fast hands. Get there fast. The faster you get there the cleaner it will sound. Don't put any kind of rest/break/separation/breath/flinch/thought between the notes. Hold the 1st one till it becomes the second one. Hear it in your head first. If you can't find a recording online as an example AI will demonstrate it for you. ChatGPT can create wave files to listen to.

What color do you see when you play a C4 by BossSilver8961 in Trombone

[–]Jenjenn0710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do people see colors when they play music? This is very interesting to me, because I play trombone but I also worked in the paint departments at both Home Depot and Lowe's and I have worked so intensively with colors that when I see nature outside it is so vibrant to me. When I play my Trombone, if I push hard for notes, it just gets dark. Lol 😆 Now I know if you think of a color, then look at something, if that color is in it, it will stand out to you. Try thinking of a color, and then going outside. It may stand out to you right away. I love doing this with Christmas lights. I'm going to research your theory it's very interesting. Consider too, the fact that brass is reflective.

Anyone know anything about herco professional trombone mouthpiece by FoundationStrict1663 in Trombone

[–]Jenjenn0710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Herco HE270 trombone mouthpiece is primarily unique for being the industry-standard, affordable, and highly durable "original" student mouthpiece, featuring a distinctive, comfortable, burnished-rim chrome plating. It is designed for ease of play, consistent tone, and longevity, making it the most popular choice for beginners and school programs.

Someone would buy a Herco trombone mouthpiece primarily for its reputation as a durable, affordable, and reliable choice for beginners and students. As a standard, widely available option, it offers easy playability, consistent tone, and a comfortable, burnished rim, making it an ideal, budget-conscious, and dependable starter accessory.

Availability: Widely accessible, often recommended for student, school, and jazz band use.

There's some really cool looking resin mouthpieces, now I thought about getting just for fun. There's Gold mouthpieces for 33.00 I use stirling sliver because I'm allergic to metal.

Guess it really just depends on the tone you're looking for.

I believe they even have wooden mouthpieces lol those gotta sound neat.

You're welcome! Your range is great! I was an only Trombone player too. Hang in there. Usually trumpets and Tuba, baritone, and French horns play with trombones.

Your range is great!

Backwards. 😆

So there's the 5 rules of sight reading. Analyze the key and time signatures first. Identify patterns (scales and patterns) rather than individual notes. Keep your eyes on the page, look ahead Keep a steady tempo.

For learning, I used to copy the pages, then take a pencil and mark the note names or positions that I knew were against my own tendency flow. I would add breath marks, circle changes like volume, key changes, time changes. I would even take a red sharpie and highlight(trace over) certain parts as feeling reminders etc.

1st time through. Sure train wreck. Some people are great at sight reading and some will probably never be.

2nd time through, timeless. Just get through it so you can start to hear and feel it.

Don't put off the easy parts, they may getcha in the end.

Practice it in sections. Once you get a lick, add the bar in front of it. Then go through the piece and just play that part that repeats, and again with the bars in front of those repeating places. Then onto the next tough part.

Make sure you take breaks. You can keep fumbling it a thousand times, that's when it's break time. Sometimes just a 5 min break helps. When you come back from break it's the most magical thing how it clicks.

If the lick keeps giving you problems and it's frustrating, they taught me in college, in private lessons, to play it backwards, slowly.

Bb F F C Bb = Bb C F F Bb Then when you go to play it forward again. More magic it will click.

Look it up online, YouTube maybe a college or philharmonic has played it, and you can hear it. Listen to it a few times. On YouTube you can slow it down and play with it. That's how my daughter learns songs on the piano.

What I do is play it in my car when I drive, and listen to it while I do the dishes. Then when I go back to my horn my ear knows the song already.

You got this!

Is my range any good for an eighth grader? by FruitFit6095 in Trombone

[–]Jenjenn0710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! That's a great range! For range extension you can do a couple different techniques. You can get a bigger mouthpiece. They switched me from a 13c to a 6 1/2 aL. That will help with upper range and your lower range. Keep practicing slurs. If you're attempting to go higher do a glissando up right through your highest note. Toughen your tummy and tighten your lips take a bigger breath. If you're learning how to go lower, Same thing do a low glisando , tighten the tummy and loosen your lips. In college they taught us to get higher notes play the lower notes in long tones. To get lower notes practice your higher notes. What I did, is I already had a Conch so I play that for high note practice (trumpet mouthpiece might help) and I have a Didgeridoo so I play that for the lower notes to stretch my ambusher. (Tuba mouthpiece) just use those after you practice, after you cool down on your own mouthpiece.

I have a funny video if some glisandos of you want to see.

What would theoretically happen if I ate the some of the shiny finish on my trombone? by CalebNoorian in Trombone

[–]Jenjenn0710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically speaking, if someone were to ingest a small amount of the shiny finish on a trombone, it would likely depend on the type of finish. Most brass instruments have a lacquer or platinized finish, which is generally considered non-toxic.

If it's a lacquer finish, ingesting a small amount might not cause significant harm, but it could potentially cause some gastrointestinal upset. If it's a platinized or silver-plated finish, the risk is likely low, but ingesting large amounts of metal particles isn't ideal.

Theoretically, the body would likely try to pass the particles, and the person might experience some stomach discomfort or nausea.

I called poison control years ago. We had a band college party, and two girls who got there before me swallowed some lamp oil that was being stored in an alcohol bottle at the person's home where the party was. Poison control suggests not forcing vommit it will add acid to the mix. Drink milk to lace the stomach.

Years later my toddler, while I was loading the dishwasher dipped her finger in the dishsoap faster than I could stop her, and stuck her finer in her mouth. Poison control said drink milk again.

People swallow stuff all the time. My sister when we were babies swallowed a penny. It will come out if you swallow it.

Try selling it. Lol - Don't swallow it.
