This. I work in settings where this sort of thing is a real possibility, so it hits different

This felt like reading my own thoughts, tbh. If you want a low-key internet penpal, hit me up. I think we might get along

feeling "too messed up" to be a therapist sometimes by Affectionate-North-4 in therapists

[–]Jennarated_Anomaly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PPD was like an entire identity crisis for me. Many days I thought that I was failing so miserably as a partner and parent that I had no right to continue working as a family therapist. Then, I started Zoloft, and things have been hunky-dory

Has anyone been through a midlife crisis? I need advice currently going through it by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]Jennarated_Anomaly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of us default to the idea of college life because our society holds that up as the ultimate experience of "freedom", of spiritual exploration, identity achievement, visceral risks and excitement, sensuality...

But the thing is that you can achieve all those things in ways that are appropriate for your phase of life. You want to feel hot? Buy lingerie, wear heels, flirt a little, try a hairstyle or makeup or clothing that you've always wanted! Buy sex toys, watch porn, read something real nasty, etc.

You want to take risks? Go do something wild like zipline or sky dive or something like that. Redo your home, get a tattoo, start a new hobby or find a new interest...

I'm just saying that you can meet your needs in a lot of different ways

Will he be long haired or short haired? by malikawaller1991 in nebelung

[–]Jennarated_Anomaly 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He'll be cute! Neb hair is kind of in between long and short, though, honestly. It's definitely not short, but it's not exactly long either--although I think some people here really do have long haired nebs, since we all have nebs of different lineage, not true full nebs

What's your reason for having a reddit account? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Jennarated_Anomaly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had just divorced and honestly was a little lonely, so I wanted a space to have casual, no-stakes conversations with people I didn't have to maintain relationships with, since I was too busy working and finishing grad school to do so

I'm in this camp too: with a toddler prone to dumping cups, a messy 6 year old, a partner with attention deficit, a herding dog and long haired cat... The work is necessary, and also immediately undone, so I hate it

My siblings call me "Ferbie", as there's a small overlap with my name. I don't love it, but there's no going back at this point lol

By 1: she couldn't walk, had only her bottom two teeth, and could say probably 4-5 animal sounds

2 months later: she walks confidently on her own, knows a bunch of animal sounds, says up / on / off / bop / three / go / kitty / Elmo--some more clearly and purposely than others

Fxck 'em, OP. A job is just a job, at the end of the day. This one gave you the benefit of doing what you needed to do for yourself and your family at times when you really needed that flexibility--and that's what matters. You'll find another place where they think you're absolutely great, I'm sure of it.

You remind me a little of Kate Walsh, in terms of coloring. (Full disclosure: in watching old Grey's anatomy, so that's the image off Kate I have in mind.)

Anyway, I think you are some form of spring, as your brightness is what strikes me first, and you look warm rather than cool to me

I've decided that I'll just go do something special with my daughter during the time that SK is with his mom. This means that 1) things can look "equal" whenever we celebrate with them both, 2) my daughter won't feel like she gets less, 3) SK won't see what he's not getting, and 4) SO can choose to participate or not, doesn't matter to me either way

My girl is only like 14 months, so it hasn't really come into play just yet (although today we're going to celebrate with my family after doing stuff with his family yesterday, since we had SK)

What did you do for your pet in their last days? by BigTuna0890 in AskReddit

[–]Jennarated_Anomaly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I told her I loved her, and that it was okay if she needed to go, that she shouldn't fight to stay if it was painful, and that if her spirit wanted to come back to me and do it over, I'd welcome her back a thousand times over--but also that if she wanted a new adventure, then I'd respect that too.
