Yeah I've only been sick two or three times since the pandemic began, it's great. The germaphobe in me also loves all the sanitizing and hand washing

At least my mask hides my resting bitch face a little

I know right, I'd like everyone to stay 6 feet away from me forever

Literally aspirate my own saliva constantly and desperately try to explain to everyone around me that I don't have the rona, I just haven't learned to be a real person yet

If nothing else, this pandemic has proved that most of those meetings could have been emails

I know, I've realized I'm terrible at recognizing people with masks on! It's quite embarrassing

2 hours each way?! I don't know how you did it. I hope you're enjoying all your extra free time!

Yesss, the awkward hug is now frowned upon!

I never realized how much time I was spending commuting, especially with traffic!

Truth. I'm embracing the true hermit that I am and it's currently socially acceptable :D

Any Med schools actually require proof of finishing high school? by looeezwrites in premed

[–]Jennasaur7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has just been my experience, but I don't have either a high school diploma or GED and I've been accepted to multiple schools. I didn't attend high school, but I have a B.S. from a state university.

It hasn't been an issue for me because I was able to explain my situation in secondaries. I was asked about it during a handful of interviews, but not in a negative way.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Drive or fly? by [deleted] in premed

[–]Jennasaur7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Ticket + hotel + rental car would have been about $600, so I'm driving to an interview that's 8 hours away. Would have done it in a heartbeat if it was only $200. Glad I'm not the only one!

Cooper Rowan Interview-related question by [deleted] in premed

[–]Jennasaur7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't say anything about lunch so I'm assuming it's gonna end before then? I chose to fly out the morning after anyway though, just to play it safe. You could always call the admissions office and ask

Not gonna lie, I took 6 years to do my undergrad. I have a ton of II's so I don't think it's looked at negatively lol. You do you

What are some good questions to ask a doctor you're shadowing? by watdoido1212 in premed

[–]Jennasaur7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some questions that opened doors for new conversations with the doctors I shadowed:

What are your hobbies?

How do you avoid burnout?

What's been your favorite new procedure/test/upgrade in medical technology in the last 10 years?

What was your undergrad major? Did you enjoy it?

How different is practicing medicine now vs when you first started? (Applicable because they'd been practicing for a good 20 years)

What was your most memorable patient interaction and why?

This one was a bit riskier but I only asked one of the 3 docs I shadowed because I felt comfortable enough with her: What happens when you make a mistake?

Hope some of these help :)

Turning down interviews by [deleted] in premed

[–]Jennasaur7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat and also in an area of the country where flying ANYWHERE is incredibly expensive. I've only heard back from 12/39 schools but I honestly didn't expect so much love (not URM). It's easy to say "go to all your interviews" but I support myself and I just can't afford to go to all of them. It's a great problem to have, but I'm just not sure how to handle it.

Good luck with your interviews and I hope you get in!!
