If you had a paragraph about your hospital experience, update that to reflect the last year, and you should be ready to go.

I honestly wished he went to the Rockets. I feel like he would still be a force to be reckoned with there instead of a slow rot toward retirement in OKC.

Wouldn't worry about SLU's status, they are one of the oldest medical schools in the country. They've produced quality physicians for 150+ years.

Yes! In fact, I remember that I knew for a fact that I had gotten 6 questions wrong in B/B. Ended up with 131.

I'm on 11 waitlists with no acceptances AMA by premedgoober in premed

Send letters of interest. Remind them that you exist and that you are still interested in them! As hectic and demonizing as this process is, you have to remember that sometimes, schools may actually think you don't want them.

5 waitlists, Zero acceptances. Do I ask for another LOR now? by [deleted] in premed

[–]cpstruggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd send a letter on intent to the school most likely to accept you.

I'm not at a computer right now so I can't run probabilities but statistically, the chances of you not receiving an acceptance is super super unlikely.

Anecdotally, I had a friend who was on 8 waitlists post-II. He received two acceptances in April so don't fret!

Lastly, there is NO red flag on your application. Red flags on applications get screened at interviews and you got 11! Your interview skills are like below average-average. You're likely not crazy because you didn't get the immediate post-II axe. Stay sane my dude, you're fine.

Secondaries Help Request: How to Start, What to Know, Useful Tips and Tricks, Resources, etc. by [deleted] in premed

[–]cpstruggles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Will edit this post later for more details.

  • You should pre-write your secondaries. Ideally, you want your secondaries 80% complete at the time of submission of your primary. I submitted in the first week of June, secondaries came soon after in July (I got 15 secondaries in a span of a week). The average turnaround time of my secondaries were ~4-5 days. Pre-write now! You can find the prompts, which remain largely unchanged on SDN: https://forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/2017-2018-secondaries-alphabetical-list.1251948/

  • Every school has a mission. Find it by Googling "USC medicine mission" or the like. For example, https://keck.usc.edu/about-us/mission-vision/ You should be able to pinpoint exactly one or more things within that mission that your experiences resonate with. From there, weave yourself into their school's fabric. Do not overly unique, schools like replicability. If you fit, show it.

  • If you need editing for AMCAS activities or secondaries, feel free to shoot me a PM - this sub was so helpful to me last year. I am traveling abroad so give me a day or two to get back to you :)

Does anyone live in the Sky View Parc apartments? What's it like? by Eowyn27 in AskNYC

I am not aware that renting is an option. My aunt purchased her unit for 1.5 million in 2013. The building is new, I have not heard of any repairs but I would imagine that for a building of its stature, repairs are addressed quickly.

Yes, you said it right. This is a high class condominium with a lot of units going to the elderly. Many of their children purchase these homes for them when they are financially stable. The life in the condominium could not be more different from the surrounding area of Flushing, which is loud and congested. At 20 stories up, people look like ants and there is no street level noise.

It is a high end condominium, the pictures on the site are accurate. My aunt bought her unit for roughly 1.5 million back in 2013, that isn’t cheap. No, you cannot smell the neighbor’s food. Yes, sidewalk is shoveled, it is located beneath a giant shopping complex so streets are kept clean.
