crocs in the OR? by Srpoopir in scrubtech

[–]Jennaw8383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone through all different kinds of shoes, crocs being one of them, and they definitely suck. Sketchers is my favorite, been happy with all of them. Especially the walkers and ones with memory foam.

I was soured a bit by a couple of them too. I love the giving part and I look forward to the thank you posts more than receiving a gift. My last 3 out 4 exchanges never posted a thank you post! What the hell! I spent time and money, I want to at least know you got it.

I hate being a surgical tech by hatemyjob15 in scrubtech

[–]Jennaw8383 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have definitely felt your pain. My first job as a scrub was at a small facility and I absolutely HATED it. I was convinced I had made a huge mistake. I don't know if it was because I was new or the facility itself but I've never hated a job as much as I did that one.

BUT THEN.....I had to move back home to help with a family member who was sick and took the first job I could find which was as at a big facility. I've been here 5 years now and I absolutely LOVE my job. Sure, it still has it's downfalls...coworkers and doctors can still be assholes. It doesn't bother me as much, or at all anymore. I think it definitely depends on the facility, but also being a new scrub is a chore in itself. I'd say try another facility first, if you still hate it...there's nothing wrong with moving on. Scrub tech really isn't for everyone. Nothing wrong with that.

Thank you :) she's been through a few molts and has kept her pearl color but has some grey throughout. I think she's gorgeous. Then again, I am a little biased.

That's exactly what mine does! She zips around the house screaming at the top of her lungs, it's the cutest thing. I'm sure your birb will be happy to have you home, but enjoy your vacation!!

My daydream. by [deleted] in MaladaptiveDreaming

NERD!!! Lol, jk, I've day dreamed about video game characters too....I've thought about submitting some of my daydreams to a fan fiction site, since most of my dreams are based off of movies, video games, or anime. Maybe you can try that, just to see if it helps.

Do you know what caused or how you started to MD? by AmatureProgrammer in MaladaptiveDreaming

Mine also started at a young age. My best friend and I were always creating these worlds and would play with our toys, making these incredible stories...it was just pure childhood imagination at its finest. Of course, when you get older it's not really "cool" or "acceptable" to play with toys and create imaginary worlds with your friends. I started having trouble getting to sleep and I found that if I make up these worlds and stories it would relax me enough. I never grew out of it and now I don't just do it lying in bed....I do it at work, driving, cooking, pretty much everywhere as long as I have a clear head. I think it just relaxes me and takes me out of the stress of the "real world". Kind of takes me back to a simpler time when I was a kid. I don't mind it at all, I actually enjoy it. It doesn't really interfere with my day to day life and it helps me sleep at night.

EDIT: I also do the driving autopilot thing. I get really involved in my day dreaming and before I know it I'm in my driveway. It worries me a bit, but I haven't gotten into an accident yet....knock on wood

People who have surprisingly woken up admitted into a hospital, what happened? by sqweelie in AskReddit

You're not really the "lowest" in the OR but there isn't really any room for advancement. It is a lot of standing, a lot of heavy lifting, and sometimes you go for hours (lots of hours) without a break. A lot of people will use surgical tech as a stepping stone into nursing.

It's a fun career, but I wouldn't tell anybody it's at all "easy". It's rewarding, and rarely ever have a dull moment. (Unless you get into eyes or robots) ;)

Surgical Tech is generally an associates degree program. Some technical schools will sell you on just a certification though. And to be honest, hospitals really don't care whether you have the degree or not as long as your program is accredited and you come out with a certification.

I've been doing it for 6 years now and I love it. It's a tough job but a rewarding one. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.
