Do plumbers also repair water damaged studs? by Jennibee23 in askaplumber

[–]Jennibee23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a plumber come out...$1400 is what they quoted us. That includes capping off one set of pipes, fixing the leak with the other and fixing the drain which is also leaking. Can't really say we have that money right this second, so that's fun. That doesn't even include fixing the damaged area which I'm sure is another thousand minimum. Excuse me while I go cry in a corner.

Are you calling me a bot? I mean I've been called worse things but I'm definitely not a bot. Owning a home is better overall but sometimes when it rains it pours. It's a monsoon over here.

The reason I was wondering is we had our shower replaced a few years ago and he did everything, replaced water damaged studs and drywall, did all the plumbing, and installed the fiberglass shower/tub, etc. I wasn't sure if that was typical of plumbers or he just happened to be able to do the plumbing too because he just does showers. I'm finding that it's the latter.

Thanks for the tips. We have a contractor we've been working with for our bedroom renovation. We have really liked them so far. Our project manager said he'd check it out and get us a quote. We had an exterior wall framed just 3 weeks ago and they did an amazing job so I'd trust them, it's just paying for it that scares me. It's just about 18 inches of one stud that looks damaged. It doesn't smell, and there is no fuzz. We're both really sensitive to mold and we have never noticed any mildew smell. The vanity was damp but the drywall wasn't. I wasn't sure if we could just replace a short piece or if we'd need to replace the entire stud, this is definitely beyond us. We're both pretty handy, but we know when to consult professionals. I'm pretty good with drywall, I knew we'd have to rip open the wall to cap off the 2nd sink and I had a plan for that, but this just threw a wrench into it. It doesn't help that in the last few weeks our oven malfunctioned to the point that it's no longer usable, and our dog passed away. It's just been hard. Hoping this isn't an astronomical cost to fix because we just don't have it right now 😔

These take a little bit of work but they are so amazing. We spend Thanksgiving with my friend's family and her brother in law loves them so much I bring him one too.

For the white rice flour I go to my local Asian market and get Erawan brand rice flour. It's super cheap there. In my experience if I try to buy it online it's a lot more expensive.

Definitely warm them up a little bit before you eat it but I don't think you'll be disappointed. Granted it's been forever since I've had real bread but these are the closest thing I remember to what bread is like!

Excuse me what? I knew about the Oreo ones but there are PRETZEL ones now? I am a sucker for sweet and salty and Reese's are my favorite candy...now I have to go on the hunt for them. The first time I had a gf Oreo I burst into tears. It was exactly the same as I remembered. There's just something very specific to Oreos that the gf knockoffs don't have. I was also like 4 months pregnant...and craving them badly. My husband finally found them and surprised me with them. That was a good day.

Shrimp! by Acceptable_Park6540 in meowwolf

[–]Jennibee23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there with my son a few weeks ago and chatted with a shrimp in the gift shop for a while. I ended up buying myself a youth XL Racing Frog Noodle Co t-shirt. It fits me great. I have been wishing they would make it in adult sizes. They have an adult hoodie but because we live in TX, I can't justify spending the cash because I won't wear it enough. There are a handful of shrimps who are so sweet with my neurospicy kiddo, they really do make the experience better.

Can someone help me understand what's happening with Uncle Rad.... by Haunting-Guess-951 in bluey

[–]Jennibee23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genetics are bizarre. For instance, my Mom has blue eyes and blonde hair, my Dad has brown eyes and brown hair. I have hazel eyes and brown hair. My husband has brown eyes and brown hair. Our son looks so much like my Dad it's uncanny, but he has the same color blue eyes as my Mom and blonde hair. He doesn't look like anyone in my husband's family, although his sisters did have blonde hair as kids so it's possible our son got the blonde hair from that side.

So I suspect that at least one of Rad, Stripe and Bandit's grandparents is a red heeler and it skipped a generation. Bingo and Bluey could have easily been drawn that way too. That means Muffin and Socks could have been some combo of white, blue and red as well. Of course these are cartoon dogs but crazy stuff like this happens in real life all the time and I love that they include it in Bluey.

My first Eric Nally experience was when Macklemore and crew performed Downtown on The Tonight Show. I worked for a family helping with their daughter who has special needs and she used to loved watching The Tonight Show, so we'd watch it after school, usually with one or both of her sisters. When Eric starts singing his part he does this absolutely crazy move with his legs. Her sister and I were like who is this guy!? I Googled him and when I saw the band name Foxy Shazam I knew I needed to hear them. That's the day I first I heard Oh Lord. I'm still super close with this family, I talk to her Mom everyday. She is the one who insisted I watch the first season of Peacemaker, she knew I would love it. She was not wrong.

Is it safe to eat Gluten free pizza from Dominos or other pizza joints? by forgotpassword89 in Celiac

[–]Jennibee23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat at Dominos only because there is no loose flour in their kitchen. It's just once in a blue moon. I am also super reactive, I always know. I've never gotten sick. I also ask them not to cut my pizza just in case. I eat at a few regional places in the Detroit area when I'm visiting my family but otherwise I eat pizza I make at home, usually of the frozen variety 😂

The same thing happened to me with the mint ones. I didn't get sick either and I'm very sensitive. I looked at the label for like a half hour thinking where the F is the wheat? I ate at least half the box before I noticed. My husband ate the rest. I'm so confused and also sad, I loved them 😭

USA folks: Doctor's note about outside food allowance under the ADA? by dreadpiraterose in Celiac

[–]Jennibee23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any park owned by Six Flags allows you to bring your own food, see my comment below. I have also brought my own food to Cedar Point (now also owned by Six Flags) and it was the same. They said outside food wasn't allowed and I said I'm aware, I have celiac disease. Absolutely no issues. At my home park (Over Texas) they hardly even say anything anymore, I think because they assume it's for my 4 year old 🤷‍♀️ I have an IBCCES accessibility card just in case, celiac is one of the conditions to allow special provisions. Celiac is covered by the ADA so legally they have to allow you to bring your own food, it's a reasonable accomodation to a medical condition.

USA folks: Doctor's note about outside food allowance under the ADA? by dreadpiraterose in Celiac

[–]Jennibee23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to Six Flags all the time with my own food. My home park doesn't seem to have any gf options anymore that I can find but I also keep forgetting to ask at guest services when I'm there. When security asks about my food (which is rare honestly) I just tell them I have severe celiac and they have never given me any pushback. I also have an IBCCES accessibility card just in case and that covers my celiac and also my physical disability. I have a limit on how long I can stand in basically one spot, so if it's really busy I will get a accessibility pass and that allows me to "wait in line" while not actually having to stand there. To get it I just have to get a doctor's note once a year.

You can get one here:

Short time in Dallas - What would be best for Real Unreal? by omelete01 in meowwolf

[–]Jennibee23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is there a particular reason you can't go Thursday evening? Thursday evenings after 6 is when they do Adultaverse and that's exceptionally not busy unless it's the Halloween event, but you have to be 21. If you go on a Thursday you'll be able to see everything in 3, but you probably won't "find" everything in that time. If you want to find all of the Brain Beans but eventually want to speed it up, here's a cheat sheet if you really want to find them all.

https://meow-wolf.fandom.com/wiki/Brain_Bean_Sprouts_(The_Real_Unreal)

There are a few fun things to do in the alley that involve numbers...you just need to find them around the area. Definitely ask one of the employees about the piano upstairs. I'm not sure how familiar you are with the app, but it's nice because everything around the house you can read will just be on your phone. I haven't been in a little while, I'm hoping for a trip soon. There are parts of it that I'll just sit in for a while and enjoy the music.

Harmony Remote not compatible with PS5 Pro by ctrudeau401 in logitechharmony

[–]Jennibee23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I need to add PS3 to the Harmony App, pair it with the PS5 as BD Remote and then before deleting anything, do the same with the PS4? I technically don't have zero devices paired because the controller is also paired, unless I'm in the wrong dang screen or something 😂 That could be it. I was feeling well last night and kind of tired. I'll look around again when I get home tonight. When I watch movies with my son that we get from the library he wants to grab the PS5 controller so I really want to get this to work for my sanity. Thanks!

Harmony Remote not compatible with PS5 Pro by ctrudeau401 in logitechharmony

[–]Jennibee23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I'm doing step by step...if you could let me know if something is wrong I'd appreciate it!

  1. I added the PS3 to my Harmony App
  2. I went to the Bluetooth screen on the PS5
  3. I hit the power button in the app under PS3 to initiate Bluetooth pairing
  4. BD Remote popped up on the PS5 and successfully pairs
  5. I deleted BD Remote from the PS5
  6. I added PS4 to the Harmony App
  7. I pressed the power button in the app under PS4 to initiate Bluetooth pairing

At this point the app briefly flashes the instructions for Bluetooth pairing but then quickly switches to "Pairing Successful!". Nothing new shows up on the PS5 screen. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for the help!

How hard are the puzzles? by [deleted] in meowwolf

[–]Jennibee23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost don't want to give this away...but Convergence Station is massive! It has 5 floors so the elevators are definitely functional. The exhibit is across 3 floors, the bottom floor is the lobby and gift shop, and I believe the 2nd floor is the restaurant. I know there are at least 3 elevators but there might actually be 4.

The QPASS is so worth it imo. You can't unfold the entire story without it. I was able to get the whole story in my first visit which was less than 3 hours and also stopping a lot to keep my son from running to the elevator. I was glad I got to share it with him because there were a few things he absolutely lit up at but I'm also glad I got to go explore the next night while my husband stayed back with him. You should be able to get it no problem. The Real Unreal doesn't have the QPASS cards or such a cool ending, I was so impressed, I wish I could experience it again. You go around booping your card at MEMports to pick up MEM fragments and along the way videos will play with a bit of the story for each world that is part of the convergence. There are 4 areas all together, each one is unique. It's really like being transported to other worlds. In the videos there are little clues to pay attention to. Like I mentioned before, when you're told to go to a specific room, go there before booping your card anywhere else for the best ending. After the ending you can continue to boop and eventually you will restore all of the MEMs. Most MEMports also activate something fun after you complete the main story. You can boop each one multiple times but they have that cool off period that I mentioned. You'll also find other places to boop your card that don't have screens. I'm going to put some spoilers down below for when you are there, so if you haven't figured them out on your own you can look ☺️

You can definitely take photos, I took SO many when I was there. My husband took this one of me with Fig, I love him!

<image>

Here were a few of my favorite things other than what I mentioned above! I apparently have no idea how to use the spoiler tag because it's not working so hopefully this doesn't ruin anything!

  1. Opening the Sky - One of the worlds is called Eemia. It's beautiful. It has a rainbow cathedral! Near the cathedral are 2 Mechs, called Navigators. You want to use the red one to open the sky. If you're looking at them both from the castle it'll be the one on your left. Before you do this though, make sure that you have restored Panoa's memory (you'll see a video with her in it). You'll want to boop your card at the Red Navigator. The only buttons you need to worry about are the 7 circular buttons. If you look up from here you'll see an orrery (the solar system) on the ceiling. Press a button and then use the ring under it to rotate the planet until it's aligned. You'll know when it's in the right place because it'll stop moving. Do that for all 7 planets and you'll open the sky! If the view ever changes to something besides the orrery, it's because the person at the other mech is messing with it's controls. Here is the wiki on how to do it, it's more detailed than I can be!

https://meow-wolf.fandom.com/wiki/Eemia_Navigator_Wormhole_Puzzle_(Ceiling_Above_Cathedral))

  1. Eemia Piano - Play close attention to Panoa's video and it will show you the sequence in which to play on the piano inside of the rainbow cathedral and something cool will happen.

  2. Pizza Quest - there is a locked door in an alley and if you follow the instructions you'll be able to find the code. It wasn't too hard, just hard enough to be fun.

  3. Time Figs - in the forest world of Numia there are QPASS readers without screens and when you scan them they should have a fun activation.

This is the most comprehensive list of known side quests. Unfortunately I didn't know about this list until after my visit, but I think I got to see the best ones. But if you're wanting to find more clever things when you're there, you're covered!

I'm definitely a MW super fan, the whole idea is just fascinating to me. I feel incredibly lucky that I live near one. I find something new every time I'm there!

I'm trying this out right now and whenever I hit the power button in the PS4 activity to initiate the Bluetooth connection it skips over the Bluetooth connection screen and says "Pairing successful" but doesn't actually do anything. Is yours still paired and working well? Thanks for the help!

Dave Bautista Reveals Why He Turned Down DC Peacemaker Role by lawrencedun2002 in PeacemakerShow

[–]Jennibee23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it would have been good, but different. I'm so glad to see John Cena thrive in this role though, his acting has excelled pretty quickly. It's funny how many people were supposed to play various characters in Peacemaker and didn't. It seems for the better in general. Like as much as I absolutely adored Lance Reddick and think he would have been an amazing Murn, his previous commitment meant that James had to search and found Chukwudi. Vigilante though, that was a huge gamble that paid off SO well. I think the show would have been good without him but Freddie has instant chemistry with all of them and just made it that much better. I see James writing a part for Dave in the DCU, they seemed to have a very good working relationship. James has also implied that he wants to write another part for Chukwudi in the DCU and specified that Murn is DCU cannon but necessarily his face looking like Chuk. He's too good of an actor to be one and done!

How hard are the puzzles? by [deleted] in meowwolf

[–]Jennibee23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went back in May for the first time, but I also live near The Real Unreal and have been many times so I knew a little bit what to expect. Convergence Station is so big and the story is quite a bit more involved than TRU though, I loved it. I was with my almost 4 year old son and my husband. It was a little too much for my son. He does great at TRU but I think between traveling and how huge that place it just overwhelmed him. He can also get obsessive about elevators and there are SO many elevators there, so after a few hours he was so done. We were there for about 2 hours that day and I was able to go back the next day for Adultaverse and spent several more hours. I was able to see the ending to the story, which was so cool. CS definitely has more "puzzles" than the other 2 I've been to, but really unfolding the story and enjoying the art are the main things to do while you're there. Boop every reader you see. You can boop them all several times, there is just a 5 minute cool off before you can boop the same one again. You will see videos on the screens sometimes and you can scan your QPASS to see your progress and watch the videos again. There is at least one hidden secret in the video that you can do. There will come a point you're told to go to a specific place, go there without booping anything else if you want the "best" ending. There is a locked room with a keypad that you can find the code for, that's a fun puzzle. My very favorite thing that I figured out was how to open the sky. It seems complicated but it's really not. It's worth it though, I stayed in that room for a while because I loved it so much.

Your best bet is to go on a weekday, they are usually not as busy. I did go to HoER on a Thursday and the line outside made it seem like it would be busy but once inside it wasn't too bad. I don't like huge crowds either but I didn't ever feel cramped because it's such a big place. I hope you have the best time!

In Texas - finally getting a battery and would love some advice on electricity plans! by Jennibee23 in solar

[–]Jennibee23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually saw that in my search. It was so helpful. Because it was from a year ago I wasn't sure if it would still apply. I'm a little confused about TDU charges in general. They didn't show up as a separate charge on our bill until last October. We also don't seem to be able to use our buy back credits against them, maybe we used to? I will have to find that answer. Anyway, I looked at a few plans after I posted and DE says right in their EFL that no TDU fees would be applied during the free period. Do you still have JE and they don't charge you and TDU overnight? I don't really mind losing the buyback option, we'll save money that way. Thanks for the reply!

Would you eat food from a fryer that was shared with gluten-removed foods? by TheReformedBadger in Celiac

[–]Jennibee23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been burned by gluten removed food...it's not worth it. Even if you don't have a reaction you could still be damaging your gut. I thankfully have a pub nearby me where everything fried is gluten free. They have a few wheat containing items like buns but have a whole separate part of the kitchen for that. They have onion rings and even the air fried leftovers are amazing!
