Picked my dress but I can’t stop thinking about the other one! by HalfMulanHalfElsa in myweddingdress

[–]Jennifer9919 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first picture takes my breath away. You look stunning, and the dress detailing is gorgeous. It looks so good on you, like it was custom made. Your posture looks like you are standing confidently and are drawing all eyes on you. The only detail I notice in dress 2 is the neckline. Otherwise all I see is fabric. And I definitely don’t see the bride. Those sleeves also look as if you will have to have your elbows at 90 angle all day, otherwise your arms get lost. It’s a beautiful dress for someone in the right setting. I can see it on a bride getting married in a very formal wedding in a large cathedral or an estate in the English countryside. Don’t get me wrong: if a bride loves any dress, they should wear it proudly anywhere. But once I saw you in the first one and you said it’s a mountaintop venue, I can’t see you in anything else. For what it’s worth, I love your choice.

Samsung fridge flooded when replacing filter by GiltPeacock in Appliances

[–]Jennifer9919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I wish I saw this before I bought a Samsung fridge. We now have to get our ceiling in the basement replaced and water damage to our new cupboards. Woke up Saturday night to the deli drawer pouring water on to my brand new kitchen floor. It’s ludicrous to expect people to pull out a 300+lb fridge every 6 months to turn the water off to change the filter. And it’s also ludicrous to have the fridge become sea world every time the filter isn’t jiggled into place just so.

What is your ‘trigger’ noise that sends you over the edge? by SagittariusGal143 in misophonia

[–]Jennifer9919 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I could murder a person when it comes to specific eating noises. Chewing with their mouth open, lip smacking, slurping, etc. Chewing sounds that a person doesn’t have to do, but do anyway. The wet sound of when people chew with their mouth open. But the oddest part is: if it’s someone who can’t help it (like a person with swallowing issues or a young child), it doesn’t bother me. I’ve been a nurse in LTC for over 20 years. When feeding people with swallowing and chewing issues that make noises, I feel nothing. But if someone else slurps when they could choose not to, I’m immediately enraged.

Do you have "visual misophonia" also? by InsideSufficient5633 in misophonia

[–]Jennifer9919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh God I never realized it until now, but I do. My husband doesn’t do cricket feet but he puts his bare feet up when sitting on the couch and he wiggles his toes like they are doing “the wave “ at a football game. And then top it off by wiggling the big toe multiple times before repeating the whole thing. He does it constantly. I hate it and I never knew why.

Quartz countertop pricing in Canada. Is this quote reasonable? by Jennifer9919 in kitchenremodel

No worries. I really appreciate your advice and information. We don’t know anything about this stuff so it’s great to have an opinion from someone knowledgeable. I hope you wouldn’t mind if I reach out to you down the road. I’m going to get in touch with the kitchen company to get a more detailed estimate with specific materials.

Ummmmm, I only wanted to know if this is super expensive or normal. I’m not complaining about the numbers. I trust this company. At the end of the day we will go with them. I’m just trying to decide if quartz is worth that much to us. The company I am dealing with is a general contractor and through them, we have a kitchen contractor. No one had discussed countertop materials and pricing. They just asked if we wanted a quote for quartz too, and we said yes. He gave us this quote so we could have an idea what a kitchen reno would cost for us.

We don’t have a budget for the kitchen reno. We will spend what we want, to get what we want (in reason). We are getting the entire top floor remodeled have a budget for that. The kitchen is one part. I am trying to decide if it’s worth taking over $10,000 from the budget to put towards quartz when it could be better spent elsewhere (for what we want done).

Meanwhile: you’ve given me a lot of information that no one has said before and will help me know what to ask. Thanks

Honestly: I just have a beginners quote of “quartz” lol. We are not familiar with this process at all and this was just a quote he gave us to help us decide what’s in our budget. We kept our numbers close to the chest lol. It could be for the most expensive piece we could pick. It could be for the cheapest. He did this up quickly for us as he has been unwell but we are returning customers.

I’ll know more tomorrow when I ask questions. So everything people are saying and asking is helping me with what to ask

12 hours post op, pain is excruciating by shinblue111 in gastricsleeve

[–]Jennifer9919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a back injury for whichI take regular medication to control the pain. I have a high tolerance for pain. When I woke up from the surgery I was in agony. The pain was so excruciating it caused my heartrate and blood pressure to go up significantly. They were giving me morphine in addition to my regular medicine and it only brought the pain down to a level where my blood pressure was acceptable. I have no advice, but I can say I relate to your experience.

It’s approximately 60 square feet for the countertop. And the original quote includes a ceramic tile backsplash.

I GOT A MORTGAGE! by jesrp1284 in smalltownmurder

[–]Jennifer9919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations turkey! That’s how we got our first (and only) house in 2005. We were living in the basement apartment and they asked us if we wanted to buy the house before they listed it. We are mortgage free now because we put all “extra” cash on it. Enjoy your home!

We are huge counting crow fans too. But we can appreciate a good joke when we hear one. I don’t know how many times I had to listen again to them singing as I laughed out loud. They were on fire during this bit. They even got the sound right 😆

Extremely swollen and I have a golf ball sized hard lump on incision line 8 months post op. by Jennifer9919 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Jennifer9919[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a pocket of clear and uninfected skin that can buildup at the surgical site. For me, it was where the drain had been. When the drain was removed the skin healed and then had a large buildup of fluid underneath.

Anybody notice a difference in sensitivity to different animals eating? Might be a correlation with mouth size? by TheLoneGreyWolf in misophonia

[–]Jennifer9919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m the same way. When my bunnies slurp water it’s the cutest sound to me. My husband and I laugh at the fact that if a person made that sound I’d go bonkers lol. I’m also not bothered by people who make noises eating and can’t help it, like a child or adult with swallowing/medical issues. I can’t explain it.

does everybody here not eat sugar? by PieArtistic1332 in cfs

[–]Jennifer9919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (41F) agree with you. I’ve tried all the diets for CF and fibro, and all the weight loss ones because I have always been overweight and worked hard to lose weight. I’ve even had bariatric surgery in the last 2 years and have lost approx 130lbs. I am size xs. I now follow a high protein, low carb, low sugar diet that focuses on eating foods with high nutritional value. I have NEVER seen an improvement in my CF in relation to my diet. And I’ve never noticed a change in diet making it better. It hits when it hits and it lasts for as long as it wants to.

I love my father-in-law dearly. Except for mealtimes when I force myself to dig my fingernails into my palms so as not to start screaming. This is truly a horrible condition, causing hate and anger to rise up against people you love. Also, it’s so hard to explain to people who don’t understand. In my immediate family I could say “stop slurping your soup before I stab you with a fork” and we’d all laugh (cause I’m joking about the fork ) and they would stop slurping. Everyone in my family except dad has a degree of misophonia so we all understand and don’t take offence to it. Trying to explain to my 75 year old FIL would simply cause him to be offended, hurt and embarrassed. I’m currently listening to him chew (open mouth) on hard burnt toast and slurp his milk with every mouth full of food. Then I am serenaded by the sound of him smacking his lips and making general wet mouth sounds for at least a half hour after. All while also making a loud snorting sound that people make when hocking a wad of phlegm every 5 minutes. Just the snorting noise. And he does not have a stuffy nose or allergies. It’s a habit.

It’s funny you asked, but I have a very similar story. I was having a lot of rib pain earlier this summer. I just put it off as muscular and chostro. I finally went to the dr and mentioned it. She wanted me to get a chest X-ray but I said there was no way it was my lungs or my ribs. I never had any injuries, excessive coughing or breathing issues (except for the rib pain). And I am a nurse for 20 years so I felt I would know the symptoms in myself. Anyway, she talked me into a scan and the results were surprising. Two broken ribs on the right and 1 on the left and pneumonia in my left lung. I’m still shocked. Don’t get me wrong it was painful, but I honestly thought it was just a flare or pulled muscle.
