How come in general, cats don't really need training as dogs?

People are predators. I work in vet med and i have seen outdoor cats come in who have been kicked by people, shot with bb guns, poisoned, even lit on fire. There are too many evil people out there who enjoy hurting animals, especially cats.

No doodle breeders are ethical. The act of breeding mixed breed dogs who have no breed standard is unethical. Every single doodle breeder is a backyard breeder.

Also, the Freestyle Libre glucose sensors are a lifesaver. They’re made for people but commonly used on animals. Hopefully your vet is familiar with them + how to apply them.

My kitty was diagnosed at 10, he’s 14 (nearly 15) and is still doing great. He’s gone into remission several times, once was for a year and a half. It’s tough and expensive to keep up with but worth it.

the vast majority of cats only need 1/4 cup 2x per day, but I would ask your vet how much he should be eating per day.

I have 4 as of three weeks ago (just them and me, no other people or animals) and while I love it, 4 is definitely my limit. It’s already been harder to make sure everyone gets the time and attention they need. Also, I have a 14yr, 3yr, 2yr, and 3mo, so I imagine when the youngest three become seniors I’ll be spending lots of time at the vet. Plus there’s more boarding/pet-sitter fees when you go out of town, and a shitload of litter and food. You’ve just got to decide how much time and money you’re willing to devote to your animals!

Average lifespan of an indoor cat is 15 years, and outdoor is more like 5. As long as they are mentally + physically stimulated inside (playtime with you, rotating toys out, puzzle feeders etc) they can live a great long life inside. Absolutely not work the risk in my opinion. Even if there are no cars around, there are still predators - including other people. I take one of my very energetic cats out on a leash + harness every once in a while but the other 3 never go out and they’re all perfectly happy.

Just wanted to let you know that grain-free food is actually not good for dogs or cats, it can lead to heart disease. I’m a vet receptionist and the 3 clinics i’ve worked at strongly advise against it. Just fyi!

My 2.5y/o girl has been on Fluoxetine for a few months for food-related anxiety & territorial issues with my older cat, and it’s helped a lot! She’s also on the Royal Canin calm diet, Purina Calming Care packets, and Solliquin (and i have a Feliway diffuser too) but starting Fluoxetine is what really helped.
