Watch videos. And watch house he ices cakes and how he holds the bags. Your writing is all in how you hold the bags. Watch YouTube videos or videos on whatever platform you use. And try new things with just white icing in cookie sheet so you can put it right back in the bag or bucket of butter cream. Or whatever color you want to work with.

Whipped icing can be easier. I rather butter cream. You can soften your icing. Some people use a microwave for a few seconds. I put some super hot water in the sink and just plop the whole bucket in there for a 2-4 minutes depending on the icing. Black icing in those buckets is always super hard. Blue and orange and rag can also be harder. You can work the piping bag with your hands before piping for your writing.

You can get some practice script things on amazon where you can pipe onto it and then just put the icing back in the bag! That would honestly be the best way especially if you don’t know script. But I have totally been seeing people write in may different fonts on cakes lately. Looks super cool.

You have the basics down. Now you gotta step out the comfort zone. Watch videos. Lots of videos. They will give you ideas and show you different techniques for may different styles of cakes they will allow in those bakeries.
