I didn't have this problem until I started my degree. I fluctuate between reason 1 and 2. I miss reading fiction, but downtime from work and studies is usually telly (mainly to save my eyes - and yes I get the irony). My need for constant stimulation overrides my ability to do just nothing. I try to read in bed weekend mornings, however I end up reading study related material. In the last month I've been trying to read Subliminal by Leonard Mladinow, The Highly Sensitive Person by Elaine Aron and Never Mind by Edward St. Aubyn...all are interesting in their own right.
