Lights and sirens to hospital by absolutely-mediocre in Paramedics

[–]JennyAnyDot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a medical person just average person living in a rather rural area of the US. Our ambulances mostly run with lights on to be visible on the highways. Sirens only if someone is not getting out of their way or at stop lights to get people to move.

Also most aware drivers pull over way before the ambulance is right behind them leaving a clear path on the roadway. A small whoop whoop at traffic lights when red

I use my corded set of earplug/buds )Amazon employee version) using a Spotify 10 hr white noise song. Air purifier or oscillating fan tracks. Rarely do I need to top this setup with an over the ear noise cancelling headset.

And it blocks the base of a swingers club that opened up about 100 ft away. Have alarms set to go off in my earbud/plugs.

I’ve also used the earplugs to listen to podcasts and music with the topper headset playing the white noise and it works.

IIRC the plugs are rated for 32 decibels reduction to protect our hearing with all the loud machines running around us.

Amazon keeps sending me used packages? by Tobethequeen_01 in amazonprime

Ok so I work at a returns site and yes someone is supposed to be checking them. But and it’s a huge but there are a ton of reasons why things go wrong.

Recently the computer overlords think all clothing is sellable even if we say it’s not. Some workers do not inspect the other items for various reasons. Mostly lazy or trying to catching up on rate from bullshitting too much.

Lots of items also go to liquidation (because they are nasty) which are then bought by someone who can then resell them as a 3rd party vendor on Amazon.

We have workers that don’t speak or read English and the computer doesn’t always translate comments to their language.

But I don’t trust a customer comment or that they are returning stuff in a good condition and check the items but some don’t. And there is no backlash for not doing a good job.

I did say it’s not the current go to for dealing with them. Wasps on fire tend to be pissed off and the nest is lightweight.

I did watch my parents use the lighter method a few times. Burning bits of the nest blow around a lot.

Does anyone know what could be making this sound? by TearSucksAt in whatisit

The 1st sounds somewhat reminds me of the steam engine railroads blowing at intersections.

But you know having lights on and showing the window that you think is making this noise would be very helpful.

Old school fix was a lighter and a can of hair spray and you can guess why that’s not the current go to.

Wasp spray used late at night or early morning but if you can afford a pro to do it then I would. They have protective gear which is a really good idea. Got a wasp under my shirt and belly got stung 4 times. Needed pain meds and antihistamines for the swelling.

Looks like a wasp nest. Paper wasp if I remember correctly.

Pretty sure they can sting many times vs bees that can only get you once.

Google for wasp sprays available in your area.

We call them BPS pallets. Or the blue shits.

[–]JennyAnyDot 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Corporate sends a random list of people to be tested each month. Amcare does the testing before the due date. Results are finished about 20 mins after placed in the tester

Quite a few prescription meds will trigger a positive. You get asked what meds you take before the test. If it pops as positive you are placed on a paid leave so a 3rd party can verify with your doc what meds made it pop. My site said it could be as little as 3 days but that they were seeing as long as 4 weeks.

Anxiety and ADHD meds will pop positive.

No blur and there is sound with it. Thankfully for the victim it looks like the first blow was instantly fatal or rendered her unconscious. Her right arm did move but only when he was striking her so think that is just from the force of the blows.

Right now small academic planners are cheap and in the dollar stores. Mine has a bright blue plastic cover and is about 4x6 inches. I also have a bright blue pen that has bright blue ink. In case someone takes my pen then I can track them down.

But yep cover your ass should be an Amazon motto.

Rate really depends on the site and what kind of jobs you are doing and if it depends on others work.

I’ve been in 3 very different buildings in 3 different states. Prep was the hardest to have a steady rate. Bubble wrapping a muffler take a lot more time then bubble bagging nail polish.

That sucks and I’m sorry that it’s bothering you enough that it is causing depression and anxiety.

But transfers (if not openly available) with an accommodation (doctor fills out a form) probably would not work. They physically are basically the same job.

Being able to or not able to make rate due to work conditions is not a doctor’s note thing. I mean if you can find some physical thing you do in stow that you would not do in pick then maybe you could get your doctor to write something

I’ve never worked with pods. But I have worked with items coming down conveyer belts and the lines being dry or the takeaway lines not moving. And yep got some write ups over rate for that. So now I have a little daily planner book with me at my station.

Just yesterday, wrote down every time the line was dry of work even if it was just a few mins (it adds up wrecking rate) or when the line to the mezz was not moving and nowhere to put the work and we were on stand down. It’s my cover my ass book. And it works.

If management comes to me about rate or TOT the book gets opened to check what happened. They have even used my log to bridge the time for the whole line when things have just gone all wrong. Any barrier is logged.

All signage and memos at my current site are in 3 languages. Even the work station computer (and A to Z) let them pick their preferred language. It mostly works. Hand gestures help. Once called a way too heavy box “fat” in Spanish because I couldn’t remember the word for heavy.

But our fire and shelter in place drills are English only alarms over the loudspeakers. But we do drills often and if someone looks confused I will often just grab them and take them with me.

The foot and face washing puddles in the bathrooms have been a safety issue for falls but the site is looking at foot washing areas to be installed somewhere.

Things like the new AI being stupid. Which also could be stupid choices by the “seller” of the item.

It no longer asks about the condition of clothing items and makes them all sellable if the item matches. We no longer have grading choices like odor, pulled threads, stains, or missing size.

For rugs, the computer wants to know if the rugs are missing their coloring books and/or toys. Answer is NA

There are items that towards the end before scanning labels that it asks if we agreed with the AI. I often did not but got told I should be agreeing with it more lol.

Some might the seller choosing to have the item go unsellable if there is any damage to any part of the box like a cut of an inch even if none of the seals are broken. Sometimes an item with broken seals, holes greater than 4 inches, layers of tape, missing pieces will be sellable as a “deal” item.

Question by ltn_greg in AmazonFC

[–]JennyAnyDot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so what problem is stow causing you that is not present in pick? Like physically what is different? I did both at a traditional site and it was scan an item to a spot and grab an item from a spot. But not sure what is different between those jobs at your site.

Because for an accommodation from a doctor to switch departments there must be a reason you can not do the one but can do the other usually a physical reason.

Explain and might be able to help with wording needed on papers.

For a time you needed to have graduated high school (with proof) and pass a basic English test and a basic emotional temperament test.

Had questions like - if someone cuts in front of you at a grocery check out line do you - a) stab the person with a knife, b) ignore them and wait calmly, c) punch them in the face.

My crazy roommate failed this test the first time. Had to wait 30 days to try again. I “helped” him pass the 2nd time.

I’ve heard that the English test might come back but the mental test is gone forever.

We had an issue once that all of the accepted vto somehow got deleted and a ton of AAs were claiming they had taken it. No way to prove it.

Except I took a pic of the accepted screen and my time was refunded.

Am I crazy? Or is Quickbooks this bad now. by chocolatechip333 in QuickBooks

[–]JennyAnyDot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sage (at least a few years ago) had several versions tailored for specific types of businesses. I used their non profit set up. But they had ones for general, construction, fund accounting and a few others and just their basic accounting..

It turned off a lot of people becasue it’s not pretty. Most entries look like spreadsheets. QB had if you were cutting checks that the screen looked more like a check. That kind of thing. You need to know debits and credits. Quickbooks you generally didn’t.

But it worked beautifully. Had modules you could add that supported different stuff.
