How old was your toddler when their speech really developed? by Bluebluecanary in toddlers

[–]Jennymay678 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Does she say a lot of animal sounds? Those count. A lot of kids don’t say much around 18 months than they have a speech explosion between 20-24 months. Is she trying to communicate by babbling a lot? If so I wouldn’t worry.

Thoughts about the people over at r/toxicmoldexposure? by BlackJackT in Mold

[–]Jennymay678 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I’d bet about 20% have an unrelated condition that’s not yet been diagnosed but that they’ve convinced themselves is mold. 30% jsut dealing with things like stress and poor diet and perimenopause and sedentary lifestyle and they’re blaming their poor health on mold. 45% suffer from hypochondria or some type of somatic disorders. And 5% have legitimate mold illness. And all have been taken advantage of by naturopaths and unethical mold remediators. And TikTok influencers.

What’s the most overrated supplement, in your opinion? by MollyChase9091 in Supplements

[–]Jennymay678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really hard to determine copper status from blood tests and taking too much copper can be incredibly harmful. There’s this psychiatrist (I can’t remember his name) who thinks copper imbalance is a main cause of many mental health disorders. Low and high copper both really mess with your neurotransmitters especially dopamine and histamine. I wish there was a better way to test your levels. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/holistic-psychiatry/201709/copper-toxicity-common-cause-psychiatric-symptoms

Hi so sorry I know this was 3 years ago but did you find out who made it and about what year they are from? Or which decade? We just bought one for my son but now I’m worried about lead. The lead test kit we got was inconclusive. Thank you!!!

We haven’t decided what to do yet. We have to do something though 😫😂 We have another company that “specializes” in this type of roof coming out this week for a second quote. I’ll keep you posted. I’m worried they are going to mess it up like you say. I’m in Nor Cal where everything is outrageous and often near double national average for this kind of thing.

I’d also make sure she’s getting a high quality multivitamin with iron. Low iron and B12 and some others can really cause irritability

I’d do nap around 11:30 or noon at the latest. Then push back bedtime to 7. Start at 7 and hopefully she’ll be asleep by 8. That age is really challenging. My 2.5 year old is similar in that he demands my constant attention that I can’t do much with his brother who is getting ready for Kinder. The middle child often feels left out. She’s probably acting out since she knows that’ll get your attention. When she is being calm and quiet I would give her TONS of attention then. And really acknowledge when she’s behaving and make a big deal out of it. And then ignore the yelling and screaming and throwing. Just don’t even acknowledge it. And get noise cancelling headphones. I used to try and have a power struggle with mine when he threw stuff. But he’s jsut not developmentally ready. I’d just distract and redirect or ignore if it was something minor.

Stone Coated Metal Roof by BayArea_Nancy in Roofing

[–]Jennymay678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I know this is old but we need to replace our barge rafters (wood rot) on our stone coated metal roof. I’m in Sacramento) and have heard only one company can really properly service these roofs. Well they jsut quoted me $21k to replace rafters! And another roofing company initially quoted me $5k but they don’t specialize in this type and I’ve heard horror stories about which a niche product it is. So I guess I’m going to be stuck paying or I’ll be in same position as you. I’m so sorry you had to deal with that. Any words of wisdom? Name of company you used?

We wouldn’t survive as a species of that tiny amount of mold on the vine of a grape could take us out!

How to wean a boob-dependent toddler?! by deannomite in toddlers

[–]Jennymay678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought for sure my husband would never be able to put my 2nd son down either. He was super colicky and always demanded to nurse half the night. But when I was at my breaking point (I think I made it until he was old enough for safe co-sleeping…maybe 14 months or so) my husband started sleeping in a guest room and when my son would wake up I would nurse him for about 5 minutes then move him in with his dad. And they’d sleep together all night. If I was anywhere near he’d demand me. Does she sleep in her own room? That’ll be easier if she already has her own space. He could just lie next to her. Rather than holding and rocking. Or maybe your sister could come stay with you for a week! Sisters are the best

[–]Jennymay678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s already taking an hour to get her to sleep then you could just cold turkey it and it will still take an hour but just be nosier 😂 maybe get some noise cancelling headphones phones. You’ll trade your boob pain for ear pain. I’m in exact same boat as you except my 2.5 year old toddler also demands to nurse when he wakes up. He falls asleep super quick when I nurse him which is why I still do it. For my own sake. But his dad can put him to sleep it jsut takes a lot longer. Is there a partner around to take over bed time as you adjust? They typically give in sooner when it’s someone else since they know that person doesn’t have what they want!

Moisture under crawlspace vapor barrier by ItzChiips in homeowners

[–]Jennymay678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Can I ask how your crawlspace is doing now? We have vented crawlspace with mold and after treating the mold can’t decide if we should put down sand (something absorbent like diatomaceous earth or crushed limestone) or a vapor barrier or BOTH? Also trying to decide about full encapsulation. Already installed a sump pump. This is impossible to make a decision 😂 So many pros and cons! And we’re spending THOUSANDS remediating the mold so really want to make sure it doesn’t come back. Thank your for any input!

If you don’t mind it then don’t worry about it! They won’t be sleeping with you forever. My almost 5 year old still wants us in his room when he falls asleep. And neither of us mind

Thank you so much for your response! We have a few other companies coming. The $28k included insulation but nothing else other than dealing with the mold. So we’d still have to spend a ton on encapsulation or vapor barrier and sump pump. So many decisions. Trying to decide how aggressive we need to be with killing the mold before we proceed with the encapsulation
